Recruiters: "You're too small to play big-time college football." CEH: "Hold my beer."

Was also said to Tyrann Mathieu and Dalton Hilliard(still my favorite Saint of all time. Nickname was: The Little Runt Who Could.).

All became stars at LSU and in the NFL.

I'm sure there's others from LSU, but these immediately come to mind.

What are the players from other SEC teams that fit this mold?

Who y'all got?

***(You could throw Trinden Holliday in for LSU as well. But I don't know if he was told he was "too small" to play big-time college football.)

Man I’m very happy for Clyde. He seems like a good guy.

For Bama I think of Josh Jacobs

Jameon Lewis MSU. I know he was hurt for a while but stood at like 5’8 and 1/2. Started 21 games as a slot receiver and had 3,325 all purpose yards. They said he was too small to play SEC football.

I was just about to say Josh Jacobs. Small in height but low center of gravity and hard to bring down. CEH with his huge leg muscles and big arse calves is what I would look for in a RB.
The Auburn kid whose dad was a rapper or tied to music somehow 5-8 years ago was built the same way. Very tough to bring down when those legs keep churning and great balance.
CEH seems like a really good guy. Hope he has a long career and makes bank.

You just reminded me of another MSU guy, our RB named Josh Robinson. He was 5-8 and built just like you said. He didn’t earn the nickname “Bowling ball” for nothing. That dude bulldozed over defenders and then drag 3 more an extra 7 yards lol.

I remember Dan Mullen talking about him when he recruited and signed him and he said something like “ You talk to Josh’s HS coach and he says ‘don’t expect 4.5 speed but somebody is going to regret not recruiting this kid. He has unbelievable leg strength and balance and just runs over people.’ Mullen then went on to say that his HS coach convinced him that Josh was special and man was he.

ETA: I said he was 5-9, he was actually 5-8 according to the NFL.

Wasn’t all that fast but had moves that were virtually unseen for that time.

ETA. Let me qualify that.

He was not the fastest wr on the team. He was fast, but his ability to shake outshone his speed.

CEH is a little better than average IMO. It's the offense. ANY NFL RB will thrive in that offense.

He looked considerably better than the Chiefs other running back, ironically LSUs own Darrell Williams

I don’t disagree, but you could say this about quite a few guys

CMC
Cook
Kamara
Drake
Ekeler
Jacobs
Hunt
Barkley
D. Johnson
Mixon
Aaron Jones

List goes on. Basically any good back that can catch the ball is perfect for that offense. It’s an elite offense with the best QB in the league, defenses can never key on the run game.

Being a little bit shorter as a RB is not a bad thing, IMO. Short and compact is harder to tackle.

State fans will also remember Brandon Holloway.

And then they'll throw up in their mouths a little.

And then they'll curse Dan Mullen for continuously trying to run him between the tackles.
