I think we'll win all of our non-conference games but go 0-8 again in the SEC. 4-8.
Fans keep pointing to Ole Miss and Kentucky as possible conference wins, but I don't see it. Both are on the road and Ole Miss is the second game of the season.

5-7. We outscore someone in conference. OM, Kentucky, Miss State... one of those probably.

We would have beat Ole Miss last year if our QB1 and RB1/RB2 didn't get injured. We fell apart in the 4th quarter.
We will be better this year. They will be the same or worse.
We will beat Ole Miss.

Step one for Arkansas:
Get to 3 wins.
Also, don't pencil in Co State as a win, since they did beat you last year.

How long are they gonna give Morris to rebuild the program?

Arkansas made a huge mistake firing Petrino, and it becomes more apparent every year.

Petrino made a huge mistake at Arkansas, got fired, it becomes apparent every year that people like you are dumb. Everything he touches goes to shite.

We made a huge mistake running off Lou Holtz and Ken Hatfield. Not even Alabama could have kept Petrino after it came out he'd hired his mistress to a state job. Which, I might add, is illegal.
Not to mention Petrino did not exactly set the world on fire at Louisville, a job he got fired from. Petrino has an established MO at this point. He comes in, does really well for a couple of seasons, then the wheels fall off thanks to his recruiting. Before his second stint at Louisville he was never at one place long enough for that to bite him in the butt. The people who took over after him were the ones left holding the bag.

quote:Petrino caught a huge break with Mallet transferring in and have an unprecedented In-State WR recruiting class his first year. Nutt had left him with some serviceable SEC level talent on Defense. After that he didn't sign SEC level talent on D or the offensive line. The program was setting up for a big decline before he got caught screwing his "On Campus Recruiting Coordinator". Bert was left with nothing and even made it worse.

I think we'll be better than Ole Miss though. Vandy got more votes than we did in the East so we're really picked last in the SEC. I don't think we'll be THAT bad.

quote:^ This. Give Petrino talent and he'll light you up. Making him get his own talent see Louisville.

You’re wrong. Petrino can’t build a team for sustained success. He doesn’t like recruiting and he neglects the trenches.

Petrino would have worn out his welcome shortly after the Mallet/Wilson years. Look at his flame out at Louisville.
Arkie goes 5-7. I think they sneak up on either Ole Miss or get a signature win over UK

Morris at SMU. 2-10, 5-7, 7-5
Morris at ark. 2-10, 5-7?
Talent wise we should be 6-6 but so far I see no reason to think Morris can get it done. Last season was probably tied with John L Smiths season as the worst coached season we’ve ever have.

I think Morris himself is a good in game coach. The biggest problem I saw as far as coaching last year was that for whatever reason he decided to break in a guy who had never been OC before and had never coached in the big leagues to boot.
Say what you will about Dooley's run at Tennessee but he at least had coached in the SEC before Missouri made him their OC.
A team with a serious talent deficiency competing in the toughest division in college football is not the place to get a coordinator on the job training. Add that to atrocious, even by the standards of the last few years, special teams coaching and we were a complete mess.
I give John L. "Smile" Smith a pass. He was an emergency hire and going through a nervous breakdown for most of the season.

This actually counts in our favor. They are going to be playing a much more difficult opponent than we are in week 1.
