The first one that popped to mind was Bret Bielema. I believe he had 3 winning seasons and 2 losing seasons, but he clearly set Arkansas back. They are now in the hole.

LSU has had a bunch of bad hires. IMO, that's one of the best SEC jobs a good coach can get.

Does Lane Kiffen at Tennessee count as "recent"

Or do we need to talk about Dooley and Jones

Pruitt needs to work out for the Vols or they may well take a step back that they can't recover from

Yes, Bielema is awful, but I would nominate the prior Arkansas A.D.-Jeff Long before him.

Over a year and a half period he was responsible for:

1) Firing Petrino
2) Hiring John L. Smith
3) and then hiring Bret Bielema

Urban Meyer, after all he did for UF, was the start of the negative momentum with his, quit then come back deal and phoning it in his last season.

Equally responsible are the twins, Muschamp and McElwain and as much as I respect him what he did at UF, Jeremy Foley for hiring these 2 arse clowns.

But, we are on the road to recovery, I can feel it.

I don’t think there’s a better answer than Bret. We hadn’t walked through the door of greatness with BP but we were at the top step sometimes close to knocking on the door.

Enter Bret and look at us now.

I don't think it was the hiring of Kiffen as much as it was the firing of Fulmer that set Tennessee back.

Bert was an awesome hire on paper.

Long’s big mistake was giving him that big extension after winning 7 games and beating a crappy Texas team. Even that wasn’t totally his fault, his hand was pretty much forced when places like Nebraska started showing interest in him

The NCAA negatively impacted your momentum. Fatt Luke isn’t to blame.

No, he didn't have to do anything.

He was also responsible for hiring Dave Wannstedt while he was at Pitt.

He single handedly ruined what little momentum Arkansas may have had. It'll take them years to rebuild what he dismantled.

you know Bama is so lucky that Rich Rod's wife vetoed him taking the Bama job, right?

And the Miami Dolphins wouldn't let Saban have Drew Brees, right?

Bert was a terrible hire to begin with. His success at Wisconsin was due to King Barry and the Nordic decendendent farm boys in his backyard.

The state of Ark. produces fast skill players. Morris makes much more sense for them.

I know not of what you speak, of this "Rich Rod" thing...
