I knew after the 2015 season he would get fired sooner or later. He is a poor manager and seems ok with just getting by.

I don't disagree with Sumlin on this one.
Yeah, Stidham was better than both QB's on the current roster but he just fricked up horribly with QB management the previous year. I'm sure he didn't want to juggle it again.

That sounds even more damning. Hey I just royally fricked up so that is going to prevent me from making my team better.
He did just take Knight the year before so I am not sure that flies. I think he was just incompetent.

It's true. Sumlin passed on him for Kyler in HS & Kellen Mond (plus maybe 2 other IMG recruits) as a transfer.

Sucks for him. He would have had a rough junior season but then he would have gotten a year with an actual QB coach.

Sumlin saves his job if he gets Stidham. He beats UCLA, and possibly beats auburn, who no longer has an elite QB, and the team doesnt quit against MSU or LSU. Sumlin was a coach who rode Manziel to a fat contract

That’s looking at it through a 2018 lens. Coming out of HS every Aggie was bonkers about getting Murray and already having Allen on board. Stidham wasn’t the prize that was missed.

True. It was probably a 90-10 split Murray-Stidham from the fans. But a big time HC has to see through that bluster and make the evaluation.
