He done well at Notre Dame with lesser talent, seems very intelligent, recruiting very well. Will be interesting to see what he will do with the athletes he will be able to get at LSU.

very well is relative, and in this case it's relative to how Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame are doing, and it isn't really very well.

Not even counting Texas and OU because they're not here yet.

5th most players on NFL rosters. He wasn’t winnings games with Ball State talent. Granted that LSU has the third most, but this idea of Notre Dame lacking talent is overplayed.

He's a better coach than Les or O so if he can get that level of talent he will do well.

I expect him to be equivalent to Les Miles without the Miles-ian luck that enabled Les to win the NC in 2007. His teams will always be good, but will never get over the hump to win the whole thing.

His track record speaks for itself. He's a very good coach.

What will be interesting to see is how that translates to the toughest division in the toughest conference in the country.

It's only August and the man hasn't even coached a game yet.

He will win there…hell, everybody wins there…easiest place in the country to win 9-10 games a year.

He had a lot of talent, just not at the skill positions where it was needed to compete with the elite teams.

If you don't have really good defensive backs, receivers, and a decent quarterback every year, you aren't competing with the top tier teams in the sport.

Everyone makes a big deal about his "big game" losses but they were usually to the national champion, hell, in 2018, Clemson beat Alabama just as bad as they did Notre Dame.

The question has always been consistency. We can play like a NFL team for a half and then just completely frick up the other. If he can solve this problem he will do very well.

Kelly's ND teams definitely had a quirky habit of playing games close against some bad teams, but they generally won them.

2018 8 pt win vs 4-8 Ball St
2018 5 pt win vs 6-7 Vanderbilt
2018 5 pt win vs 7-7 Pitt
2018 7 pt win vs 5-7 USC
2020 5 pt win vs 4-7 Louisville
2021 3 pt win vs 5-7 FSU
2021 3 pt win vs 7-6 Toledo
2021 3 pt win vs 6-7 Virginia Tech

He's a very good coach and I expect LSU to be solid all around and consistent.

There is nothing to show that he's a very good coach in major college football.

His track record show that his Notre Dame team was 13th in the nation during his tenure there.

I-A Winning Percentage 2010-2021

1 Alabama
2 Ohio State
3 Clemson
4 Oklahoma
5 Boise State
6 Appalachian State
7 Georgia
8 Oregon
9 Louisiana State
10 Wisconsin
11 Oklahoma St
12 Stanford
13 Notre Dame

Excluding Notre Dame (#5 on this list with 34 players on 2021 NFL rosters), the top ten schools with players on 2021 NFL Rosters:

Alabama - 53
Ohio State - 47
LSU - 46
Georgia - 35
- Where ND would be on this list -
Clemson - 33
Iowa - 33
Florida - 32
Michigan - 32
Oklahoma - 31
Penn State - 31

Brian Kelly's record vs. these teams:
Alabama - 0-2
Ohio St - 0-1
LSU - 2-0
Georgia - 0-2
Clemson - 1-3
Michigan - 3-4
Oklahoma - 1-1
DNP: Iowa, Florida, Penn State

Total record: 7-13 (.350 winning percentage)

Record vs. teams with fewer players on NFL rosters: 5-8 (.385 winning percentage)

Record vs. teams with more players on NFL rosters: 2-5 (.285 winning percentage; all wins vs. LSU)
