Real football talk: Bama’s defense compared to Auburn, Florida

How do you think these 3 defenses compare to each other?
Bama and Auburn both faced the TAMU, Arkansas, and Ole Miss offenses
Bama and Florida both faced the SC and Tenn offenses
The numbers vs. those common oppponents say they’re all about even, but obviously injuries/gameplans/matchups mean more.
ETA: here are those aforementioned numbers:
SC/Tenn vs. UF defense
5.2 yd/pass
4.2 yd/rush
SC/Tenn vs. Bama defense
5.3 yd/pass
3.9 yd/rush
--
TAMU/Ark/OM vs. Aub defense
5.0 yd/pass
2.9 yd/rush
TAMU/Ark/OM vs. Bama defense
5.7 yd/pass
4.3 yd/rush

On paper, I would say Bama should be the most talented, but they don't seem to be quite as good as UF or Auburn's defense, probably because of injuries and inexperience. If I had to pick one of the three, I'd take Auburn's defense

Auburn >>>>Bama>>>>Florida Defense LSU faced.

Tough comparison really since not all defenses are built the same. Derrick Brown literally changes the game when he is on the field. Pressure up the middle and eating up blockers on run plays. Very few teams have guys like that. Last year BAMA had Williams but Raekwon hasn't seemed to be able to match that. Not a knock on him, Wiliams was just THAT good. But Lewis and Jennings could cause havoc for Burrow too.

Auburn is the best of the three. Florida is the worst.

Bama> Auburn > UF
I think what the OP is asking, and what I want to know, is how teams that have played them feel they match up.
As an LSU fan, I feel like Auburn was a better d, more physical front line.
Obviously what's in the back of every LSU fan's mind- objectively you think LSU can move and score on Bama. But the way the series has gone, you're afraid to believe that, because they've shut us down cold a lot recently.

The only one of the three that can get constant pressure with their front 3 or 4 is Auburn

Auburn D is so overrated. They have a really good D line but overall as a unit they have not dominated. Statistics point to them having a rather average defense.

Auburn's interior defensive line is better than Alabama's, particularly because of experience. Alabama has better edge pass rushers, though. I think Alabama's secondary is better than Auburn's.

Greatest call on defense I’ve ever seen...

You need to factor in that Auburn’s offense sucks. If Auburn’s offense would have had sustained drives and put up points against Lsu and UF it would have immensely helped the defense out.
I would agree that the Auburn Secondary is easily the worst of the 3 against passing, but our secondary is stout and very good at the run game. Our CB’s have routinely made very good tackles on outside runs.

That's a shiny hook you got there... either that or you are one dumb frick...
You pair Auburn's D with BAMA's O this year and no one comes close...

Bama is SEC 1 & 2 in most metrics vs the pass. Not good against the run. Flip those stats for LSU.
Honestly, that should make LSU fans nervous given the builds of these offenses. I have faith Burrow will be largely unaffected as he has been throughout the season — but I also think our defense is at risk for a historically bad day.
Obviously not what I’m hoping for, but if we’re just looking on paper that is what the numbers suggest. On one side you’ve got very good pass d against very good pass o... pretty pedestrian pass d against very good pass o on the other — Whether or not LSU gets the run game going may be the surprise x-factor Saturday.
Another thing to consider is that Bama truly hasn’t faced a remotely capable QB. Plumlee might have been the best so far because Mond has been unimpressive against virtually everyone.

Auburn has the better front 7, though I think Terrell Lewis may be the best disrupting LB on either team (leads in sacks per game and TFL per game, has more QB hurries by himself than opponents have total vs Alabama). I imagine that Alabama's secondary is better than Auburn's (10 INTs to Auburn's 5).
Auburn is more stout against the run.
Both defenses are better than Florida's.

We also ran a very basic and frankly shitty offensive scheme prior to this season. That had far more to do with it than Bama’s defense.

Auburn has a better DL, but Bama has a better overall defense then Auburn.
Bama is better at every position then Florida on defense, except for ILB.
