Maybe not numbers wise but in terms of per capita AL is up there. There was a rivals article a little bit ago that talked about Alabama high school players living up to their star rating the best. The talent is up there with any state.

Also ttown doesn't need to be Austin in order for a team to win. And wining is all that matters to any coach worth a shite.

I absolutely see the advantages with recruiting, fundraising and exposure but that seems a fulltime nightmare of a job keeping the program clean.

You obviously didn't read the reasoning behind the rankings, and if you did then you're just not very smart.

A simple article ranking places to coach went over your head, that is sad.

I was addressing your comments, not the article at hand. How very sad indeed you lacked a decent rebuttal. You are so very smart as you keep reminding this board.

I mean ok that's great but when Texas is rolling they have the potential that's higher than an Alabama because there are simply more of those players in that area. Florida is the same way as is USC. Those 3 are 1,2,3 in any order.

After that you have schools like bama, UGA, LSU, etc.

When has Texas ever been rolling? 1 championship in 40+ years isn't rolling. I'll hang up and listen.

I just can't believe he has MSU ranked in the top 55... Ruins this list's credibility... I'll give them top 70... Maybe even top 65... But no way that gig is top 55.

All of those schools have great recruiting advantages but I'd include Alabama and Notre Dame based on name recognition. They require more out of state recruiting than the schools in your list but their names are good enough for that not to be a major problem.

The Bama homer putting them at #1 was a good troll if he wasn't dead serious. I still like Texas, Florida, and Southern Cal as the top three jobs in the country (I'm not particular on the order since all three can make a case IMO).

Cons: Clemson seemingly has so much going for it, yet the program has only won two ACC titles in the past 24 seasons. If you are a coach interested in the job, you’d have ask yourself the following question: Why are we South Carolina's bitch?

I'll give you UCLA but not Nebraska.

I realize this is late on a response but how can you put Nebraska as a better job. Yes they had success in the 90s, we had success in the 80s but we also had success in the 2000s and even this decade. Gene Chizik was able to lead us to a NC which shows we have potential.

Also, when it comes to budget, recruiting and conference prestige we win all those battles. AU has one of the largest athletic budgets and quite frankly we do the equivalent of throwing money in a trashcan on anything we want (frick jay jacobs), Nebraska's top 5 recruits wouldn't make it into Alabama's top 10 rankings and we have better access to Georgia, Florida and MS as well and have success. Finally, SEC > Big 10

If by tradition they mean constantly under performing in relation to their talent level, then yeah, they have tradition.

I will go out on a limb and say if the Longhorns continue their current trend they are fast becoming Notre Dame. In the SWC they had decent opponents and in the B12 with Nebraska and Oklahoma they were in a good spot. However in the era of consolidation by the power conferences the Big 12 is the only one headed in the opposite direction.

Sure money is nice but I am guessing all coaches want to win or they would be in another profession. To me the Alabama job is #1 because of the past, the fans, and the ability to be in the MNC in the toughest conference in the land. The day Nebraska called it quits in the Big 12 may become the point in the future where historians say Texas started their downhill move to obscurity. Minnesota was great once and they are nothing now. If Texas continues not to play a CCG, plays in a weak conference, and schedules weak non conference games in a generation they will be a nobody.

Ohio State should be 1C ... it's always thrown behind Florida & Texas on these lists. I can argue that it is a better job than those... at least equal.
