Stuff like this makes me feel bad for Arkansas.

I would think Bama has the most either way, but if these arent end of the year rankings then they are useless

From the earlier thread on this

quote:

Since 2015, pre-playoff games vs teams that finished the season in the Top 25

Alabama : 23 (19-4)
LSU : 22 (9-13)
Clemson : 17 (16-1)

Clemson has only played 5 Top 25 teams (ND 2x in 2020) in the regular season/ACCCG in the past 3 seasons.

2018 - #15 Syracuse, #16 Texas A&M
2019 - #25 Virginia (ACC CG)
2020 - #5 Notre Dame (2x), #22 Miami

2020 was the first time in the time period above in which Clemson played a team that finished in the Top 10 during the regular season/conference title game (Notre Dame 2x, went 1-1).

Top 10 Final Poll Opponents pre-playoff since 2015
- LSU : 13 (4-9) (6 were Alabama)
- Alabama : 8 (5-3) (2 were LSU)
- Clemson : 2 (1-1) (2 were Notre Dame)

Isn't Tennessee on a 38 game losing streak vs the top 10?

- Opponents played pre-playoff
- ranked at the end of the season (final ranking)

I assume this is ranked at the time of playing? Because by that measure so much matter when you play certain teams. Team A can play the same team as Team B, but it only counts as ranked for one.

I looked up A&M's regardless.
25 ranked opponents, 10 wins

Best Wins: #4 Florida, #8 Lsu, #9 Tennessee

So Clemson was playing 4 ranked teams a year, then barely anything?

Yep - mostly lower end of the top 25, but still some decent teams. The ACC just cratered.

Some combination of Virginia Tech, Miami, NC State, North Carolina, Florida State, Notre Dame, Louisville were all ranked somewhere between #15-25 at the end of the year from 2015-2017 (plus Auburn OOC 1x ranked).

That's what makes these graphics so tough. You never know. Then, over a longer period of time like that you never know how injuries will affect the opponent's rankings or if a team just falls off. Florida St for Bama come to mind as does Texas for LSU in '19.

It's just a talking point really to keep us busy in the offseason.

Or the opposite, look at USC in 2016. The team bama played early in the season was dogshit. They started 1-3

Then, they change QBs and run the table and end up as a top 5 team, so Bama would be credited with a year end top 5 win

So it can go both ways

It definitely can. I bet Florida would tell you that the LSU team that they played was a lot better than the team that lost to State and Mizzou.

Considering the talent gap Ole Miss may be the most impressive on this list.

Only reason Arkansas isn’t worse is because they didn’t have the SEC championship games or bowl games that Bama did to increase their game numbers.

I would like to see this with bowl/playoff games excluded.

But hey, Bama has an easy slate of games every year, right?
