Question for those who watch baseball games on SEC+

I know there’s like a 30 second to one minute delay due to streaming. Is there any idea if this gets corrected in the future? I’m bad about checking twitter during games and sometimes it predicts the future of what’s going to happen in games being streamed.

Doubt it - the same thing happens with basically any streaming service. For instance, I use YouTubeTV for my cable - which is awesome - but it's 45-60 seconds behind twitter and notification alerts.
In end game situations I just have to turn my phone over and ignore it.

It’s not a thing that can be “corrected”. They are broadcasting the signal all over the country, in different “packages” to fit the devices it will be viewed on. Data transport isn’t instantaneous, despite the term instant messaging. If we are being philosophical nothing is instantaneous, but that discussion has no place on this board.

Just put it in terms of talking shite about how some other fanbase is all rednecks and it could work.

The delays are weird and not exact. I can be watching on the computer, then go put the same game on in my living room with PS4 and they are even different

I laughed very hard at that one. If I knew how to do the laughing emoji thing on this dang site I would. That’s the best line of the day right there

Don't be a stranger over here Tales - you are good people. We need more of those.

That is so tREC can make changes when needed during a game.

SEC+ doesn't carry football so REC involvement is basically non-existent rockiee. I thought you were an expert on these matters.

That would mean my team is the leader of the ref conspiracy for sec+ then. If it’s UK for basketball and Alabama for football....
Welp, might as well start vacating wins now
For baseball its tPTC
Purple Tiger Club

That's exactly what someone would say to stifle the connections that are clearly everywhere

It can be disconcerting especially because I prefer listening to the radio guys regardless of the sport. They are a zillion times better than the TV commentators.
But as you suggest, the radio broadcast can be from 15 seconds to two minutes ahead of the computer. There is no rhyme or reason to it either.
So if I am able , I will try to listen to the radio as much as possible. Just so much more enjoyable to listen to. Understanding that watching is good as well. I almost wish they would just use the radio guys as the TV folks, which I know would be a bit awkward too.

I am with you - I like doing that too. What I started doing was listening to the radio broadcast on the TuneIn app, which is even farther behind than the TV. Then I sync them up by pausing the TV until they match.
It's not perfect, but it works out pretty well.

Are the Alabama tv folks particularly bad? For us both commentating crews are pretty great, although a couple of people don’t like one of the radio commentators. Tried to watch a Tennessee baseball game the other day on SEC+ and my god that was awful. Is that what the Alabama ones are like?

For baseball I assume?
It's not too bad - it's usually Lance Cormier (who played at Alabama, pithced in the majors for about a decade) doing color and either Roger Hoover or Eli Gold doing play by play. Hoover is young and is a pro, he'll be doing big time radio soon (he does the Jacksonville AA team radio during the summer). Chris Stewart, our basketball guy, does the radio for baseball. He's really good.
The biggest issue has been when we get stuck with the one camera in the press-box view. I don't think that has happened yet this year, but it happened last year some and a ton before that. It was basically like watching a game from a blimp with a radio feed.

It can probably be improved, but ESPN has little incentive to do so.

As Tales said above, if it's a streaming service there is always going to be a lag in time. The quality of it is fantastic now almost all the time, which is a big step up from where it was even 3-4 years ago.
Overall it's super easy to use and a great product IMHO.
It's hard to imagine that just 10 or so years ago it was hard to watch even half of your teams OOC basketball games........led alone very many baseball games. Now almost of the basketball games are on actual cable TV, the remaining games on an easy to access streaming service and all of the home OOC games and SEC games are on streaming or cable.
Remarkable.

I can imagine that’s pretty rough on that camera. We have Ben McDonald so we are definitely spoiled

Consider yourself lucky. Mine is usually 4-6 minutes delayed.
