Just something I'm curious about, since I know most LSU fans are also Saints fans. Let's say you had the power to go back in time and change only one thing - that Saban, while at the Dolphins, would ignore the advice of the team doctor and go with Brees as his QB rather than whoever it was he actually went with. As a result of this change, Saban ends up being a successful NFL coach and never leaves to go back to Alabama, which remains mired in relative mediocrity and never returns to greatness. However, also as a result of this change, Brees never goes to the Saints, and they too remain mired in mediocrity, never even sniffing a Super Bowl appearance, much less a win. Other than that, everything else remains the same.

Would you make the change?

I personally wouldn't change anything. It has been pretty noteworthy to have three different coaches win NC's here. Plus, I'm a huge Saints fan and have suffered their crappiness all the way back to Bum Phillips. Their success has been rewarding for me.

Historically the Saints with Brees are mediocre

Honestly, I don't care too much about what other teams are doing. I expect my team to be doing everything it can to win games whether it's LSU, the Saints or the Pelicans. So, give me Breesus.

Doesn’t happen.

Bama would hire someone not as good, but good. They proved that they would invest with saban. They would have invested in someone else and it would have paid off.

No mediocrity here. We are talking about Alabama football.

Is there any team you love (other than Bama)?

Brees to Miami. Saban to Bama has cost LSU at least one title, perhaps more. Also, a number of big recruits likely stay home without the Saban pull.

I really haven't thought about it, but is there a significant portion of LSU fans that are not Saints fans?

Nope. When not comparing to Bama, LSU has done as well as any school with championships. Having them be successful and getting to witness the Saints dominate in my lifetime has been pretty special. That Saints Parade after their Superbowl win was enough to lose Saban to Alabama. I have never experienced such a sense of unity in a community for the few weeks after the Superbowl and will likely never experience that again.

From Louisiana and I was a young child when the Saints came into the league. Never connected with me. Been a Steelers fan (dammit Browns) since the early 70s because of Terry Bradshaw.

I wouldn’t say that they’re not fans or root against the Saints, just indifferent. If they win, great. If they lose, that’s cool too At least in south Louisiana.

North Louisiana has a ton of Cowboy fans that are also LSU fans, though.

If you judge by Tiger Rant posters then the answer is yes. A bunch of posters over there hate when people bring up the Saints.
