We get tired of your bullshite Pat Dye revisionist history too. It's just what people do.

No need to revise history. Bama was a shell of its former - and current - self at that time. I don't think you'll find a Bama fan who won't admit that. The program was considered in coaching circles to be a sleeping giant with enormous potential if certain people would get out of the way.

There was no doubt as to what happened at the time and Saban was not even considered a serious candidate
You will likely believe this until the day you die and I'm certain nothing I say will change you mind. That said, you are believing something that is just factually inaccurate. Through business I've become friends with a few agents and coaches. It was known before Christmas that year that if Bama didn't have a coach in place at the end of the Dolphins season that Saban would likely be the guy. His interest was known even though he can (and does) honestly say he didn't talk to Bama until the season ended.

Fortunately, I do know a BOT member at UA. Well before 2006, he claimed that Shula was a temporary fix. If he worked out, great. If not, then it would've been easier to cut him loose than it would've been Croom.
Shula's days were numbered in 2006 and the MSU loss accelerated the process. Several BOT members met after that game to see if they could get the ball rolling. A win over Auburn could've saved Shula's job but it wasn't a sure thing. Sexton did reach out sometime after the UT game to let it be known that Saban was interested.

What was Bama's record in '06?

6-6, 6-7 after an Independence Bowl loss and the epic Joe Kines halftime interview.

Auburn should follow our lead.

It is more than that though. He told the former Fins owner he had no interest and was not considering the bama position several times. He also has said this is a man he respects as much or more than anyone he has ever met in his life. Saban also would not have been so adament that he was not considering the bama job if he was actually considering it. He would not have pounded the table so much.
Saban isn't dumb and I firmly believe he was not considering the bama job until Moore circled back after the Fins season ended.
Now of course Sexton just wanted to get paid and probably did misrepresent to Moore the reality of the situation at the time. Then of course things changed after Rich Rod said no and the Fins season was over.

THis isn't true. Wayne Huizenga has Birmingham ties, and knew all along that he had interest.

Just gotta stop that inside trap

Go find the podcast from the Dan Lebatard show last month and listen to it and get it straight from the horse's mouth (Saban). He told Huizenga he had no interest up until the point he met with Moore then went to Huizenga's home to discuss how things had changed and he was now considering it.
So you pick. Either Saban was and still is a MASSIVE liar when he strongly denied any interest and said in NO UNCERTAIN terms he would most DEFINITELY not take the bama position (knowing it was there for the taking at ANY time).
Or he was telling the truth and he did not have any interest until after Moore met with him.
Your choice.

When he was hired in 2003 there was a lot of talk that he was just a temporary coach to get us through probation. After 2005 I kind of believed in him for a little bit but that all changed after the '06 Arkansas game. We had that game WON and he pissed it away by playing not to lose. It was at that moment when I realized I wanted him fired. After we lost to Mississippi State I knew it was a question of when and not if.

When he denied his interest, he was under the impression that Alabama had chosen not to wait. So he genuinely thought that he was not going to be coaching at Alabama at that point in time.
The owners at Miami knew that he was unhappy in the pros for a little while. Saban has maintained a good relationship with Huizenga, and it was due in part to his being open with his thoughts and the things he was considering, the reasons why, and the timing of the choices.

This is a true statement. This has been stated over and over again by Coach Moore, Jimmy Sexton, and Coach Saban.
Saban had ZERO interest in the Alabama job until after he (reluctantly) agreed to meet with Moore.

Yep. That pretty much sealed the deal. After that it was pretty much beat AU or be gone.
If he had not lost to MSU that year, he MAY have gotten another year. If he had beaten AU, he would have been back. Should have let bama win that year.

Yep. What I have been saying over and over...
And it is also what Saban is still saying to this day.
Now Sexton is a different story. He wanted to get paid and told Moore what he wanted to hear to make that meeting a reality.

I just explained it. Huizenga's son was married to a girl from Birmingham. She had an aneurism and died.
I actually know the information from both sides of the ball... both the Alabama and the Miami side, and the stories match up. You are depending on media reports.

So which is it?
Saban is a liar because he had interest all along although he STRONGLY denied it multiple times in no uncertain terms and denies he had interest to this very day until the meeting?
Or he had no interest until he agreed to the meeting after the Fins season ended?

This is just silly. Saban knew the job was his at anytime he wanted it. Rich Rod turned bama down and even AFTER that Saban said he had zero interest. In fact his infamous pounding of the table categorically dening any interest in the bama job was AFTER Rich Rod had backed out and Moore had come calling again. It was several weeks after in fact.
