Question for Bama Fans--Ruggs

From what I saw this year, I am not sure I understand the Ruggs hype. Great athlete in a great system where he usually played teams where his offense was far superior to the defense in every way imaginable.
It felt like in the big games, he was the 4th best receiver on his team and you could even make an argument Waddle was the best of the bunch.
Am I even stupider than I think I am?

Very dangerous. Don't ask questions that you don't want the answers to.

Probably so, if this board of late is an indicator.
ETA: I do agree with you. Ruggs could be that guy the Raiders drafted from Maryland or perennial Pro Bowler. It seems like a high risk/reward pick.

You could argue that
but not very persuasively.

Waddle was good but other than the Auburn game he didn’t do much as a receiver. Jeudy and Smith the best. Ruggs has potential to be great due to his speed.

I always thought Smith was the most consistent WR on Bama, Jeudy had some drops and Ruggs seemed like he had games of no impact. Surprised Smith didnt leave

You're not stupid.
He's not going to go up and battle for the 50/50 ball, but Ruggs' speed and athleticism can stress man coverage and force safeties deeper, which leaves underneath routes more free - because they know he can smoke on a fade, he can be deadly on a slant. His breaks and balance are fantastic. Despite his size he's also a great physical blocker, which is an underrated skill. Finally, he's smart.
He just doesn't have a lot of weaknesses, unless you really want to nitpick.
One of the reasons you saw a lack of top-end production last year is because of what you mentioned - he was sharing touches. Because of his ability to stretch the field, the route trees underneath can also be exploited by his teammates.

People love the 40 yard dash for some reason.
Like to a fault.
He’s great player but thought he was 3rd best WR on Bama

Jeudy had some drops
He had 4 in 109 targets.
He was top 10 in the SEC for lowest drop rate.
I mean, two of the 8 above him were Ruggs and Smith, so maybe that's why you think that?

I'd argue that that is one of his strong suits. He made some incredible catches on 50/50 balls while at Alabama. His basketball skills really show with those types of plays.

Combine warrior.
Very little production.

He was #7 in the SEC in lowest drop rate
#2 in Yards After Catch
#2 in explosive play %
I think he'll do alright.

I was looking forward to the responses to my stupidity lol.
If I had to rank them I would have said Smith, Jeudy, Waddle, Ruggs but that's just me.
