It's exciting, but we've got a lot of EPT to offer. What I want to see is how this staff recruits a year or two from now. I have confidence they will do just fine though.

Cam Newton can come in and be a leader. He has experience for sure. I know Malzahn is salivating right now. This just shows you that Rollison may not work out and also that we may have some transfers at QB. Also our backups are not really getting it done. I say bring this guy to the Plains baby!

Say there is a kid that for whatever reason (grades, ability, criminal record, etc.) has no chance in hell of ever going to a particular school, yet he wants to take an official visit to that school. Can the school say no?
Auburn has to have interest in Newton or there would be no visit.
If not, then just because Newton is making an official visit it doesn't mean that Auburn has interest in him. Even if they can refuse to allow him to make an official visit, there is the possibility, I would think, that they would allow him to come anyway just because it would be a PR hit if they didn't. Imagine if it got out that a kid wanted to make an official to a school (any school) and the school said no. That would not reflect positively on the program.

But I'm just saying, it isn't patently impossible that Newton will pass over State for Auburn.

Well the official visit says it all to me. He will visit, we will offer, and then his recruitment will be over.

I'm sure they got a few during Sherrill's time there.

If yall get Newton, Im gonna call it now that Trooper Taylor is the BEST RECRUITER in the SEC.

I'm actually hoping Newton goes to MSU, just so msukb79 doesn't go postal on random shopping malls.

All I want for Christmas is a SEC caliber QB, and if I dont get it I just may go a little nuts. HAHA never do anything too extreme, heck if WE DO GET NEWTON I may go crazier than I would if we didnt get him

I still maintain that it isn't a forgone conclusion that he's gonna go with Auburn. I mean, they are kind of looking a little Jhonny Come Lately here. However, I will say they are State's toughest competition. WHat they are basically telling Cam is this: "Hey, the guy we REALLY wanted isn't working out...you available?" Which his family wants him to go to State because the Mullen connection.

State will be fine with Russell. I am more worried about who is going to carry it between the tackles next year.

I think its a two team race between State and Auburn. One of the MSU pay sites said that Oklahoma told Newton if he doesnt win the Starting QB job they will let him play Tight End. Thats crazy considering the kid is a 5* QB.

There is a kid named rajion neal out of atlanta that i'm pretty excited about. with the recievers we have coming in and the rbs, russell will be ok. if he goes to auburn, we will survive.

It's fast becoming a scary/creepy issue.

If Auburn offers, Newton will be a Tiger. It's not clear that Gus is going to extend an offer, and it's Gus' decision......

See, how do you know that. Is it just arrogance that makes you think that way? Or do you have some insider iformation about it?

I don't think they would invite him and not offer.

Not arrogance at all......we just had our two worst seasons in a long time last year and this.....
It's just the truth about Newton. Our program is on the rebound, we have great coaches/recruiters, and we have an exciting offense. Players see that and want to be a part of it.
From what I am hearing, he is Auburn's to lose.

Its not arrogance, I think it is that fact that starting next year for Gus Malzahn at a major program in college football is a huge selling point.
