I'm not sure you could classify Auburn as an elite program anymore, though. No offense.

You did beat us badly this year. I am sure you read where I wrote that earlier. But I'm just saying, it isn't patently impossible that Newton will pass over State for Auburn.

Programs aren't defined by one or two years champ. We have the history of a top 20 program and we will consistently be a top 20 program. You are kidding yourself if you think that 7-5 is the norm here and will be the norm here.

I think Newton's best choice and most logical choice is to go to MSU, FWIW.

Former coach
Less of a QB battle
Program on the rise
etc

sorry we had the misunderstanding then. Auburn is historically great program. Maybe State will be one day.

Think about this: How many people would have heard of Anthony Dixon if he'd gone to a powerhouse. Nobody. He'd have just been one more talented face in a crowd talented people. Newton will shine all the more if he comes to MSU because he could be credited with turning our program around. Is it even certain that he's been offered from Auburn yet?

If A. Dixon went anywhere else BUT MSU he would have one The Heisman. Great players are made better by better team mates every day at practice. Game day's are a small part of a football players life.

yea anthony dixon would have been much more known around the nation because being part of a bigger program and no one likes to acknowledge mississippi state for anything.

MSU will get love if they start winning. And with Mullen, they look to be on the rise.

i hope but even in sports we are consistently good at and have great programs such as basketball, and baseball they don't tend to recognize us like other programs. like last year i heard many espn announcers name hasheem thabeet the nation's best shot blocker although varnado averaged more blocks, and led the nation in blocks. They also tend to confuse Mississippi State with Mississippi, it pisses me off.

Like I asked earlier, is it certain that Auburn has even offered the kid yet? If they have and he wants to be there so badly, why hasn't he accepted and it made national news? I don't think he will chose Auburn. There is too much competition at QB there.

I am kind of in agreement with you there lowspark12. I think Cam Newton is way more intersted in Auburn than Auburn is interested in Cam Newton.

Kinda like the average guy who asked the really hot girl out on a date and she said YES, but she doesnt intend on dating the guy and just wants to be friends.

I do think Auburn has offered Newton a scholarship, and this weekends visit is all about negotiations recgarding how much more money they are willing to pay him as compared to Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

Its a bidding war, thats all I can think of. Its why his father is involved in the middle of everything.

Auburn has to have interest in Newton or there would be no visit. There is no coincidence that this visit is taking place while Rollison is suspended for bowl practice. It is either a warning to Rollison or they have given up on him. Every team should bring in a qb every year. But bringing in a juco player at this point is really a slap in the face to Caudle, Burns, Rollison, Trotter, and Mosley. However I am not sure any of them are really serious SEC qbs.

It's crazy.

The Auburn paysites said we have no interest and he wasn't coming....Now, they post the article they he will visit this weekend, but no offer has been extended yet. Lots of games being played on this deal. Our Rivals guys said he handled the situation just like the Newtons ask him.

Maybe if you got Newton, have him go two years. If AU were able to land Driskel next year, he could back up Newton in '11, and the starting job is his 2012-2014.

Is it just me or is Auburn's 2010 recruiting class getting scarier by the minute?
