At any rate, I don't think he's going to Oklahoma. There is too much QB competition there. He can't risk not winning the starting position and having to waste a year or possibly two of his eligibility. The same may go for Auburn. They have some talent at QB.

The staff has openly stated we are not going after a QB for this years class, we have 4 QBs that are very talented and one that is considered by some to be the most talented QB AU has ever had.

We have other spots that are in much greater need for players than QB. I expect us to take one/two next year but not this year.

I may end up eating crow on this one he is officially visiting this weekend. This is counter to what the staff has stated throughout the entire year so they must have a good reason.

He may not get an offer, but if we want him he is ours......

SO tell me this, Im Cam Newton, how does Auburn sell themselves to me considering all of the QBs they have stacked up in their depth charts?????

Auburn has 5 QBs on scholarship
Mississippi State only has 2

I know Auburn is a more prestigious program than Mississippi State, has a nicer stadium and all but Where is the Sell that Chiz and Gus Bus are going to sell him on?

Are they Guaranteeing him a Starting job ????

If he came to Auburn, he would come based on liking the coaches and the offensive system.....just like most of these guys when they make their decisions.

I don't feel that QB is really a strong need for Auburn for this class, but they may feel like his athleticism is too good to pass up. He could play in a variety of places and would only be in the program for two years......

We'll just have to see though.

If it is true that Auburn is bringing him in this weekend and if it's true that Auburn will offer and if it is true that he is ours if we want him, then yes they are offering him a starting job.

That's a lot off if's.

No. If he wants a guaranteed starting spot, he'll go to Miss. State. If he wants to compete for the job, he'll go to OU or Auburn.

Right, which is why I said there are a lot of if's.

Cam Newton isn't coming to Auburn unless he has a good indication that he could start. I can't see the coaching staff telling him that, therefor I don't see him coming to Auburn. However, if Auburn offers and he commits then obviously Auburn is indicating he's going to start.

For him to get the nod at starting he must be the best QB of all time. We have Trotter who is arguably the best true pocket passer AU has fielded in the last 20 years, caudle is a good experienced QB, Tyrik is arguably the best overall QB we've had talent wise in a long time and is compared to Craig by much of the staff, then you have Mosley who has worked with the scout team and has received tremendous praise for his ability to mimic other team's QBs in situations down to their head movement. Very doubtful he's being told you'll be our starter.

I didn't say he was. I'm saying that with only two years left to play that he won't come to a school where he has to compete to start. He's going to a school where he will start.

I seriously doubt he winds up at Auburn because of this. I can't imagine how dumb he would have to be to come to a school where he isn't clearly the best QB on the roster unless the coaches are telling him he's going to start.

From what I have read, Newton's father wants him to go where he has the best Chance to make it to the NFL, just curious what QBs from Auburn other than Jason Campbell have played in the NFL??? I know we dont have ANY at Mississippi State, and to be honest I dont know who from Oklahoma has played in the NFL.

So, he is definitely coming to visit Auburn? That's cool. He said he might. However, Auburn fans, don't you think it's a tiny bit arrogant to naturally assume he would pick you over MSU? Just because he has an offer doesn't men he'll accept.

Yeah, which leads me to think that the quote refers to playing time because the schools listed don't really have a history of producing stud QBs.

I haven't seen an credible source that says he's visiting Auburn. To answer your question, it would be arrogant, yes. Again, you have to remember that everything said on this thread is purely speculation.
