It could very well be an indictment of our current QB situation... Rollison is definitely a question mark for next season.

What about Caudele???

And why wouldnt Newton be at Auburn for Spring semester if he picks yall?

Well I guess we are going after him because Tyrik Rollison may not be working out. Who knows? This is an official visit so there's something to it. I believe Malzahn likes this kid and plus we have one spot left for the early signing period.

Jesus. Tyrik Rollison is working out. He'll be back for Spring Practice. With Rollison, Trotter, and Moseley on our QB depth chart we'll be fine. BTW, Newton is NOT visiting this weekend, and won't be visiting any time in the future. Our coaches are not interested, especially not in a recruit that has behavioral issues. Move on.

I have heard the same things, that he is visiting, but we have not offered yet. Our qb situation is crowded, but wide open and no one has stepped up and claimed the job. Last year, we gave Tyrick a hard look in August as he made the intial three man cut with Burns and Todd. I really think if he is ready, he would have a legit shot at the job next year since Tyrick is currently considered the leader and he is only a freshman.

Honestly though, our qb situation is too crowded. I feel like we have signed so many the last couple of years, just hoping one would work out and we need to be very selective and get the right 2-3 guys to compete in the future. Not 5.

I didn't know Newton would be a January enrollee... I assumed that b/c he hasn't made a decision and is apparently open to taking more visits.

As for Caudle... I just don't know... I just get the feeling he'll never be a starter for AU. This whole Newton thing is a result of Rollison's off-field issues, IMO... maybe it's even a wake-up call.

Are you sure about this? This rumor has been all over for several days and as noted, some services are now reporting it as fact also.

This. IMO, if he had what it takes, Tyrick would not have made the cut to the final three as a true freshman last year.

I honestly think we cull a couple QB's... and with KB to WR ??? TR getting a hard look but not traveling with the team to the bowl, Claudle not working out, Trotter a ???,

I think neal transfers... trotter may as well.... TR will stay if he works out...

If he doesn't work out then he can be a DB or a LB.

I'm 100% positive that we're not recruiting him. There's no offer forthcoming. He won't be taking an official visit this weekend. No one can stop him from coming though, so if he still plans on visiting Auburn this weekend, it will be an unofficial visit.

I don't knwo where all this certainty about rollison is coming from. It's no secret that in the class room the kid is a functioning retard. If his issue is grades, i'd rather not put all my eggs in the tyrik can turn it around academically basket. There are questions with all the QB's from injury to competition level. I'm not saying newton would be a wise pick up, but i'm not to the point of saying we don't need him.

This is what blows my mind if it is true. The guys from Scout say he isnt visiting, but Rivals say he is. If Auburn hasn't Offered, and are stocked at QB why does he even want to go visit there? UNC was the other school that has been recruiting him and they HAVE OFFERED. Im hoping and praying that things will end up good for me, and Newton will Sign with the Bulldogs next week.

If he drags this out into 2010 he will be wasting valuable time by not being enrolled anywhere. I hope this madness ends soon.

Well, it's a good thing that grades are NOT an issue with Tyrik. He's in good standing. As far as Newton is concerned...do you really think that Chizik, with his emphasis on recruiting not only talent but character, is going to even consider offering Newton? Nope.

According to a source of mine, Chiz already has offered Newton. What HC wouldnt offer a 5* who WANTS to visit their school. Auburn had coaches at his JUCO national championship game.

Yall Barners are keeping tight lips on this Newtongate. Go ahead and let the cat out of the bag. I actually hope he commits to Auburn if he doesnt come to State.

You and i hear different things. You going to answer all your own questions?

I don't think newton is the kind of guy that auburn is going after, but i'm also not going to go around talking in certainties when the facts are clouded.

Well. Believe what you want to, but grades are not a problem, and have nothing whatsoever to do with his recent suspension.

Look Rollison has been on the team for a year...he's managed to get suspended in that year for as rumors go either fighting, failing a piss test, or grades. I think you putting all your faith in tryik is a bit premature, and saying that cam newton shouldn't even been considered by this staff is presumptous

One thing to note also, is we only have one more spot that can count back to last year considering the 4 signings from yesterday. Of course we still have 7 spots available in the current class, and I think Newton probably does have an offer right now even if it is not "official". Our qb situation is wide open next year with a redshirt freshman leading.
