This is more for fans late 30s/early 40s and older and preferably from non-Bama fans.

Since LSU-Bama is over and Bama now has 1 loss, of course there’s an uneasiness about Bama backdooring their way in a playoff spot, which honestly is very unlikely this year.

But that had me thinking. How does Alabama as a media darling over Nick Sagan’s tenure compare to old school Notre Dame? Especially since eye test is actually something that is on paper that legitimately factors into the crowning of a champion by way of playoff selection.

Usually, if ND was undefeated, they were #1

You act like the media sensation over Notre Dame ever went away...

Hell, they stayed #1 in 1943 even after losing to a military base and refusing to play in a bowl.

Everyone's opinion seems to think that every other team in the running is going to win out. I promise that won't happen. I don't know who is going to lose a game they shouldn't but it will happen. If you knew anything about statistics you would agree.

If a 24hr sports channel would have been around in the 70's, ND would have been the same as today's Bama. Keep in mind that as a kid I rolled out of bed every Sunday morning to watch ND and LaTech football. During dove season we sat in the fields listening to ND football. So it's really all relative; now and then.

My folks still tell about ND screwing LSU out of the Cotton Bowl.

I’ll hate Notre Dame more than I’ll ever hate Bama for the simple fact their stupid asses were on TV every Saturday in the 90s, even when they were playing shite teams. Gtfo my TV.

It should've been Texas (#1 AP) vs Penn St (#2 AP) but the latter voted to play in the Orange instead.

IDK Notre Dame did get the shaft in 1993. Finished 11-1 with win over FSU H2H (lost to top 20 BC by 3). FSU finishes 11-1 as well and are named national champs. Couldn't imagine that ever happening to Alabama right now. I'm only 35 so I really only go 90s and forward that I can really speak on.
