He gets the job done.
Does have kind of a funky happy gilmore-ish hop when he throws deep balls

It's fundamentally sound as far as what Steve Spurrier teaches and wants from his QBs...all his QBs will throw with the exact same technique and form. Shaw throws off the front foot when he's throwing from the pocket.....perhaps off the back foot or 50/50 when he throws on the run, which he's pretty adept at doing.
I saw one particular pass he made in the linked video on a goal-line situation vs UK (around the 1:10 mark) where the play is a little play-action fake and he quickly lobs it to TE Cunningham for a TD that looked almost 50-50, but that wasn't a true full-form pass play anyway....

He looks fine to me.
Much better than Jaybo Shaw if that's what you want to know (deep down).

I feel like he's one of the underrated players in the SEC... and if he can do it, or Johnny Football or Tebow... anyone can do it(be successful at QB) Takes more than fundamentals

Connor does a great job moving the chains on 3rd down. It doesn't matter how you do that. Just do it.
GT is typically up there in 3rd down conversions.
But I think you guys try to get too cute working on your passing game that you put yourself in unconvertable situations too often.

in the few ideal, five step (or 3 step from the gun) views on the video his form looks fine to me.
back foot is perpendicular to the target and he opens well and points the front foot at the target in the weight exchange. he has good weight exchange and doesn't over stride. knee bend is good allowing for weight/energy transfer. begins throw with front shoulder pointed at target and ends with back shoulder pointed at target to further transfer the energy generated from the ground up. His elbow leads the throw and his throwing hand comes to rest at his opposite hip pocket with a pronated wrist.
having said all of that, there are plenty of throws on the video of him not using ideal form. you'd find plenty of examples of peyton manning not using ideal form too. sometimes you don't have time, are off balance, there's a massive paw in the way, etc.
I like Conner Shaw. Guys got athleticism, guts, and makes good decisions. very underrated QB in my book.

He (Shaw) more than gets the job done because he can take-off at the drop of a hat and go ...
Now, watch Dylan Thompson throw the ball. He's a pure passer - one of the best I have seen in a long long time.

Meh.
Shaw isn't anything comparable to Wuerrfel or even grossman when it comes to spurriers teaching.

Thompson is more fundamentally sound, but shaw is WAY more athletic.

Shaw is not a pure passer ... but Spurrier has said that Thompson has the chance to be his best ever. He's bigger and has a stronger arm than Wuerrfel, but he has an understanding of the game and can make the time throws like Danny. That's key in Spurrier's offense.
Still yet, anyone that underestimates Shaw's ability to throw the ball gets beaten.

Shaw is no JFF or Tebow. Sorry. HUGE talent gap.
JFF>>>>>>>Tebow>>>>Shaw

The problem I notice the most is he brings his foot too far up, and brings it up too soon. You first see it rather early in the video and then you can't miss it every other time it happens.

I think he does it since his ribs still hurt from that hit Jerico Nelson put on him in 2010...which was a CLEAN HIT by the way

quote:Do you mean Jake Bequette? That's the only shot I remember him taking that game. And ff that's the hit you're referring to, then no, it wasn't clean.
Jerico Nelson

His form is actually pretty good for a guy who's known more for being a dual threat QB. His form, timing and decision making has also improved over the years.
He doesn't have the arm strength that Thompson or Mitch have, but he's a QB that during third downs can get the job done. He moves the chains well.

No, the year before the Bequette hit when bitchass Shaw was relieving Garcia to close out an arse whooping in Columbia. Shaw runs toward the sidelines but tries for an extra yard. Broken ribs May've been 2009 I guess?
And the Bequette hit was clean as a Lysol factory

95% of the aggies on this board are just bad trolls. Let them be, the fall will be epic (see MSU: grind, #webelive post alabama game 2012)
