Why defend this? There's no way you can have grown men dancing, spinning, holding hands, & doing little kicks w/out looking gay. I realize a&m was once an all-male school. But, is it really an important tradition to have male cheerleaders? This is something I think I'd try to change.

Look I’m a regular civilian Ag, you want an Army Ag that graduated before 1970ish. It’s their tradition. Meaning, I cannot control it so I don’t care about it. Go yell at some 80 year old their traditions when it was an all male military school are gay, what the frick do I care? Why do you care so much? You know there is a dance team of girls if you’re worried about no females cheering on the field.

Aggy fans will try to convince you they don't like the Yell Leaders just to bend over with them on gameday and repeat everything they're told.

They're all complicit.

Most Ags will agree that some of the behavior is odd. For example, the bad comedy at Yell Practice is pretty cringeworthy, as is all the hanging all over one another.

But the CONCEPT of the Yell Leader is not a problem. Their JOB is to get 50,000 people to yell exactly the same words in perfect unison, VERY LOUDLY, and they do that job FAR better than the “cheer squad” at any other university in the country.

The real question is “Why is it so important to you to have a ‘cheer squad’ that does not really fulfill the above-described role very well” just so you can ogle young women in skimpy costumes?

I do not really mind the ogling. I would have zero problem adding the dance team to the sidelines alongside the Yell Leaders. The two groups fulfill very different roles.

He hasn’t been to a game so he doesn’t get it. He thinks there is no chicks lol that’s why it’s all a troll. They are clearly gay for our yell leaders

Why don’t you put together a solid campaign to get some females elected as yell leaders?

Then your concerns will be resolved. Everyone wins.

Can anyone tell me why the yell leader with the microphone does the little leg kick/raise/flex every few steps?

The frequent "little kicks" are their automatic reactions preparing for rear entry; next will be pants-on-the-ground.

Never knew. I wondered that the first time I saw it but didn’t care to ask about it. I’m sure there is some special meaning tho that’s like 100 years old

Yell Leaders have been doing it forever, and it is just expected. Aggies do not deal well with change.

I would say it's time to kill this tradition, but I love making fun of it. It is really cringey as frick.

That doesn't tell me why they do it though.

Is it another one of those "unique" Aggie traditions, which are only performed simply to be different than others?

Is that why y'all seem to self-sabotage every season it looks like you might be poised to break 8 wins?

What's the honest reason for the leg kicks?

Is there any reason other than "we've always done it?"

But why? It makes no sense from an anatomical perspective.

This is going to come as a shock to you but every university sings songs together, cheers together, chants together, etc. A&M does it no better than anyone else.

Somehow, every other university has managed to pull this off without self-hating homosexuals wearing bedazzled overalls while striking odd poses, filling jars with jizz and banging sheep.
