PSU and AU

Did not watch the PSU-AU game as was in stadium in BR but saw the SEC office comment on the 3rd down punt. They said the replay booth had it as 4th down as well. So did Franklin ask for a replay that went to the booth and was confirmed or did the refs just check with the booth and see if they concurred?? Either way how in the hell do they get it wrong with the advantage of replaying the previous downs??? I can kinda understand, well not really, on field officials losing track but the replay booth???
