Looks like I won’t be flying home out of ATL Sun night. Living in Fort Lauderdale I feel for those poor bastards in South Carolina.

Think you meant SW, but yeah looks like its going to hit NC adn parts of SC and then head towards the NE GA/ATL area.
This storm is going to be a bad one - everyone stay safe out there.

I just flew back into ATL last night and as I was driving East back towards Augusta I20 WB was heavy with traffic and that was at close to midnight. They are clearing the heck out of there and I don't blame them.

I live on an evacuation route in a small town under 20 miles from Augusta. At midnight there were several cars packed as full as possible heading further inland. I need to get in touch with some people from church to see what is being planned as far as providing shelter goes.
This hurricane has a Floyd type feel from 1999. I was a freshman in High School then and we had all of our towns churches full along with the elementary, middle, and high school gyms. Even though they were full, a lot of our locals opened their homes to those in need. It literally seemed like every other home had extra cars in their yards and driveways whether it was family or strangers.

This morning it was saying Monday would be when the storm moved into the ATL area.
The problem is though that tomorrow morning or this weekend it may all of a sudden change course and decide to move NE like most storms usually do.
Think Weather Channel was saying that this storm is moving in a path that no other hurricane has ever taken before when approaching the east coast.

Yeah I remember that. They had the motels in Augusta booked up and the same is probably true for this one. I hope all those people get through it okay, from the sound of it this storm is going to be pretty bad.

This is what I love about us as a nation. Say what you will, but in times of crisis, I have always been impressed with the kindness humanity can display.
I hope it does not come to that, but if it does, I have faith people will rise to the occasion.

Weather Channell has this monster storm becoming very unpredictable, Two of the troughs of high air have it turning SW and maybe stalling over land for a while causing historic flooding inland.

While it involves our neighbor to the North the story of how Gander, Newfoundland, took in close to 7,000 airline passengers during 9/11 (which almost doubled the population of the town over night) and took care of them for several days just goes to show there are a lot of decent people in this world who will do the right thing.
I hope all my South Carolina friends are somewhere safe.
