But...
Programs don't just go 10-0 in SEC play... In both football and basketball in the same academic year - but
Teams don't just win every conceivable award in a single season, but
Teams don't just sign 2 of the 3 highest rated recruiting classes ever within 4-year span, but

Always wanted to be in school when my team won a national title.
We weren’t bad but didn’t get any :(

I was lucky enough to attend Alabama from 1998-2003. The absolute nadir. Lucky me.

Nope, but I didn't live the typical college life, so it wouldn't have been significantly better then than now. In fact I can really enjoy the success more now than I could have while in college.

True. You need lots of help and mulligans to get there. Too bad other programs are not awarded do overs and mulligans like the Gumps.

Honestly it probably would have annoyed the hell out of me at the time. I wanted the football team to do well and cheered for them on Saturdays but I didn't want to hear/talk about it all the time. Same reason I can't stand watching any ESPN programming except the sporting events - The games are fine but I don't enjoy listening to people talk about it. Especially the casual fans that don't understand the game and are just on campus to party and use it as a talking point... too much for me.
TL;DR - I have issues, and am a severe introvert.
