Astronomical are the odds that those two defenses play a game with 7 TDs and 0 FGs.

Look no further than last year's two games for a reference point.

While I appreciate the breakdown, and your ability to post without sarcasm or innuendo, I think you're mistaken about LSU having more questions. I think, through experience, we can both agree that defense wins games. You guys, while restocking with experienced talent, are replacing like 10 starters on D. We are replacing about 4. You may have an upgrade of talent at receiver, but you still lose your top 2, right? And your best player in 5 years at least, will be drafted soon.

We return our whole committee of RBs, and this isn't a redshirt Frosb QB. This dude ran shite in JUCO, he has looked awesome in every practice, scrimmage, spring game etc that he's been in. We aren't expecting Joe Montana, and we know he'll make some mistakes, but if he is one notch above full retard, he'll be better than what we've had in 4 years.

Here's to a clean and injury free game.

43-7 LSU

I think you are overstating the losses. It's not as bad as 2010. And we rotate a lot of people. Certainly it will take a hit, but we're talking coming down from one of the all time defenses. They can still be very good.

Yes, there is a reason those two were starters, but let's be honest: they weren't Julio Jones. There's a good chance neither will be drafted. Experience must play a big part for Saban. We had young guys making big plays and I see the WR corps as an upgrade across the board.

Arguably him or Julio. But as great as Trent was, he's easier to replace than Julio Jones. A lot of this depends on the health of a chronically knicked up Eddie Lacy, how Justin Fowler develops, and unknowns in Dee Hart and this Yeldon kid. Still, "running the football" hasn't been a problem for the last 4 years. With this o-line, and a legitimate threat at WR/QB, I don't expect this to be a problem this year.

Edited: it doesn't matter how good the RB is. If your primary focus is to stop him (as it appeared with LSU), you can. LSU largely succeeded in keeping the game away from Trent. Luckily, we had an answer.

Good luck with your QB. All I'm saying: I wouldn't trade with you. And yes it would hard for your dude not to be an upgrade.

43-7? You funny.

Chances are much greater the combined score is under 25 than over 50

I'd trade 4 AJ Mcarrons for Zach mettenberger. By the time we get to y'all, Zach will have any "speed of the game" adjustments and jitters taken care of. Remember, he has been scrimmaging against our first team D for a couple years now. I've seen your QB need to have his all star RB put the team on their shoulders for two years now. Only now, your RB position is looking a little more bleak. Zach has way more talent, potential and ceiling than AJ. I was joking about the score, but I see a 10 point win, easily.

He was a first year starter this year. And that wasn't the case in the end--did Trent even break 100 yards in the last game? AJ did a lot of growing up. A lot of it going forward depends on his focus and commitment coming off early career success.

You may be right about your QB. But I like having a guy with a year under his belt, who has already proven he can do it on the biggest stage. With your guy, it's all speculation and supposition.

I'm not saying he won't be great--I'm saying we haven't seen it. And we've seen it go both ways.

But let's say your guy leads the SEC class. Arkansas didn't win squat with Mallet. And Georgia wasn't a world beater with Stafford. Just saying: AJ is probably better than our last two, and we did OK with those.

That's right your other average QB had to rely on the Wild Tide halfway through the season in 2010. But the majorit of AJs yards came off of dump passes to Trent in the flats. I'm not saying AJ isn't talented, but Zach will be the higher draft pick.

You may be thinking of 2009--when we won it all. Ingram in the wildcat against USC. GMac had his ups and downs, but we won games with him too. The SECCG in '09. Last minute come from behind win at AU that year.

Yes, he was the average Alabama QB, but that was enough. AJ is more gifted than JPW and GMac. And has proven at least once that he can win when his number is called.

Just saying: a bird in the hand. Your guy may have all kinds of upside and draft potential. But if I had a nickel for every savior at QB waiting in the wings in the SEC...

I'm not saying he will be bad. I'm saying you guys are awfully confident he's going to be good.

What makes you think that? Was it all of the games that Mettenburger has won? Oh, wait.

Nothing is out there that says Mett is better than AJ. Absolutely nothing.

Welcome to the 90s. Since 2000- 9-4 who do you think is on the upside of that record?

Beating an average/mediocre SEC team is notable for the PAC10/12, even two years later.

They really struggled with a below SEC Average AU defense a year ago.

SEC fans love defense.

The old eyeball test, funky. JUCO or not, Zach had the same caliber talent on his offense as the defenses he faced. He was POY that year (jus like Cam). He has the size and physique to far out reach what AJ is capable of. Will you argue that Zach will be a lower draft pick?

I agree, I'm believing 'Bama taking a step back' less and less. The D will be very good, maybe not 2011 good, but top 15 top 10. The O will be better I think if AJ's step up in bowl game is maintained/improved.
