Had a ball to the throat…. Passed out walking off the field… the kid could use some prayers from all of us… it’s powerful.

I haven’t heard anything. I’ve been on the road.

He got carried off the field after about 10 minutes. Took one to the throat and then passed out.

Ball hit the dirt, bounced up and hit him in the throat. He sat for a few minutes, got up and tried to walk and passed out. He regained consciousness and tried to walk to the dugout but couldn't make it. The trainers carried him to the dugout/training room. The good news is that he was conscious, but no further updates were given during the broadcast.

postgame on catcher Mac Guscette:

"He took a direct blow to the throat on a pitch that was thrown in the dirt. He's alert and doing well. They'll run some tests to make sure he's ok. With the information that I have we think that Mac is going to be ok.

Isn't there a doctor on site for a baseball game?

Scary injury.
I'm hoping he'll back in the dugout next weekend.

I was wondering the same thing. Checked my post a few times to make sure I didn’t misspell or say anything wrong.

Both teams have trainers but I doubt doctors are in the dugouts
There was likely doctors in the stadium that may have been involved if serious enough
There is stadium medical people at game, ambulance crew that is there for player fan safety
I’m guessing they were likely giving assistance in training room

Cold hearted is an understatement I’d say.

Praying this young man makes it out okay and gets back on the field with his teammates as soon as possible. That’s tough.

Sometimes people down vote by accident. There is a simple way to undo that, but just because it is simple, if you don’t know how to do it, I can understand it being left that way.

Please share. Heck I’ve downvoted myself and others accidentally while scrolling down with my finger on my ipad. It’s an easy mistake to make.
