I absolutely believe that politics plays a factor in the deciding process.

I think Alabama should go in over Ohio State, but when they think about TV coverage and national interest, they will not let 3 of 4 teams that are about 1 gas tank driving distance away from each other to dominate the playoffs.

We all know the South owns college football, but they want Northern and west coast people to watch and I think that will play a factor in putting tOSU over Bama...

I am not saying it's right and the CFP people will deny it, but I think anytime they can "Fix" the selection to show representation from as many regions as possible..they will.

The CFP people will never have the need to deny it because no one would ask them such a stupid question.

I agree CU Tiger. I posted this same message on MSB and the repliers are delusional that it will not be a factor.

You're 100% correct. I listened to that prick Dave Wannstedt actually say that last night on Fox using it as a legitimate reason to put tOSU in. The other 3 pro tOSU talking heads quickly came to his rescue and bailed him out.

I heard Wannstedt crying like a baby also and you are right...His solution was to expand the playoffs rather than play better

yes - D-rad and Bobby Johnson (Class of '71) will do every thing they can to vote Ohio State "in" and Alabama "out" so Dildo doesn't have to play the Tide in a semi-final. Gene Smith will be so ecstatic when he's recused out of the room.

everyone with any sense knows Alabama is better than Ohio State, so those on the committee with vested interests of winning it all will want the path of least resistance their school.

More people watched the iron bowl this year than any other game. So people love to see the Tide, wether we win or lose people gotta watch.

Dave Wanestedt said exactly that last night.

No way they put a host of southern teams in the 4 with one not being a conf champ, and step over a Big 10 (northern) champ to do it.

It will indeed be a factor. OSU beating the #4 team in the country will be the justification. We all know that Bama is the better of the two but OSU gets the nod for the ratings.

tOSU won their conference so they should go. If we're talking a 1-loss team, Wisky at least made it to the Big 10 championship so they would get the next no if you taking a non-champion team. Have to take bias out of this discussion.

And when I want to take bias out of a discussion on Alabama football, I immediately think “Let’s ask an LSU fan.”

In 2016, the committee devalued a conference championship and a head-to-head matchup in order to get Ohio State into the playoff.

In 2017, all of a sudden the committee thinks the conference championship is important again, so that a 2-loss Ohio State can get into the playoff.

See the pattern here? The committee will do whatever it takes in a given year to get Ohio State in the playoff. To hell with consistency. When Clemson abuses Ohio State again in the Sugar Bowl, maybe that will be what it takes to change the committee's mind in years future.

The controversy is good for them. It’s an event. It’s marketable. It’s for profit. They don’t care if they have the four best teams.
