Joel Klatt said it perfectly . . .don't blame the coaches, blame the system and the early signing period. No coach WANTS to leave at this time but they HAVE to given the dynamics of college football, recruiting etc. But I still don't understand why national media is overwhelmingly negative about Kelly leaving ND but Riley is a saint for leaving OU and this dude is actively recruiting OU players and even had a spy at OU who was recruiting for USC. Really?!? Frick the media

Riley is way worse imo. It’s kind of obvious he was negative recruiting OU while he was still there in a plan he’d later execute to drag recruits to USC with him.

Id guess because ND still has a shot at the playoffs while OUs season is over except for the Bowl game
Who knows
Who knows

Because LSU is the bad boy of college football and they hate to see us shine

LSU fans are one the few groups left that are acceptable to make fun of by the mainstream
I’m good with it
I’m good with it

Problem is, the alternative would've been for Kelly to essentially hide the mutual interest between himself and LSU, and proceed with coaching with all the passion and devotion expected of a head coach, particularly at the postseason stage. All the while having that little distraction on his shoulder.
I'd love to see the reaction had he selfishly done that, much more to the detriment of the Irish than the way it actually went down. It would be many times what we've seen thus far, and rightly so. What he did was actually in the best interest of the Irish, all things considered.

Because you are on an sec centric forum?
And Kelly is a count, while Riley was liked by everyone until this.

One guy is a known hot head who once said he'd like to put his team in front of a firing squad. There's your answer

He wasn’t calling out the SEC rant

It’s kind of ironic, really. Riley gets a pass because he’s been halfway out the door all season and his team has fallen out of contention because of it. He’s taking recruits and whatever else he can grab on the way out of town.
Kelly stayed focused on his team until the day he left, his predecessor has an opportunity to play in the CFP, and it was a clean break, but he gets ripped apart for it.
It’s been a hell of a week to watch this shite from the outside.

Because the media is butt hurt that not even their head coach thought they were really relevant in football anymore.

Kelly went to the South. Riley went to Los Angeles.

I actually respect Kelly for not bolting to a high-paying job in some soft conference. Riley's been scared as frick ever since it was announced that OU is gonna join the SEC.

Because this is SEC Rant, not Pac 12 Rant.

Because you’re not supposed to leave a storied program for the south/hick town. You can leave the south/hick town for a media favorite program such as ND or USCw

One went from the Midwest to the west coast, and the other went from the Midwest to the south.
