It seems like the only times AU has been good in the last decade or so is when they have a mature roster full of transfers.

Do any other teams depend on transfers to this same degree?

This clearly leads to a cycle which produces a good team only every 3-4 years. Is this primarily on Gus as of late? Are Auburn fans growing tired of this?

Maybe I’m wrong, but this seems to be true.

QB is a transfer.
OL are mostly (maybe all) transfers.
At least a few defensive players as well.

Gus can't develop his own QBs. Pretty ironic, since folks toss around the "High School coach" epithet about him.

He didn't say senior transfers. Stidham is a transfer for one and so is trigga Trey. Probably some others as well.

This isn't true. His hits and misses are no more than any other coach. IMO he is a poor evaluator of talent at the position.

2 transfers on O line, one is a Grad Transfer the other transferred after 1 year at Ole Miss. Only D player I can think of that transfered is Jamel Dean and Matthews

Am I missing a QB that he recruited out of high school and later put into the NFL?

He developed Matthews into an All-SEC caliber DB.

Dunn was a find.

JS might as well have been a HS senior when we started him.

Transfers who play are Mathews, Stidham, Dunn (Jax St) and two OLs that are in the rotation. Not so unusual if you consider JCs are essentially transfers.

Kansas State built their program around JUCO transfers and Bill Snyder was lauded as a genius for doing it.

Didnt they offer John Franklin a scholarship based on one game?

the person responsible has been exiled to the frigid northlands

(but to be fair, Lashlee is also the reason we got Stidham, so it's a push)
