Arkansas ran for 5 yards and turned the ball over on downs. In the postgame, reporter asked Pittman what happened. Pittman tells him what happened.

I mean what else can you say? "We thought we'd catch them off guard, but it didn't work." You roll the dice sometimes and sometimes you get snake eyes.

He obviously didn't trust either KJ or his recievers at that particular moment in that situation.

Running the ball on 3rd or especially 4th and long usually indicates this.

I'd be pissed of Heupel called that shite.

Pittman's response is hilarious, to paraphrase.

"What happened when you ran the ball on 4th and 9?"

"We ran the ball and didn't get a first down."

I love this guy.

You’re probably right. KJ only threw for 385 yards that game.

Then why call that? Maybe he over thought the situation at hand. Bad decision either way you slice it.

Yeah I think it was a questionable call at best when you have a QB with a good arm, able to extend plays, and plenty of receiving talent.

It was a bad decision but they saw something in the way the defense was dropping into pass coverage that made them think we could run for a first down. Similar to audible into a fake punt based on the defense, I guess.

I don't agree with it but I think that was the reasoning.

I mean, did you watch the video? He tells everyone why he called it.

We were tearing them up through the air, and so he thought the run would surprise them.

It didn’t. Still won the game and ranked #10 though so we’re good.

You have to have been there and been watching to see what really happened. KB called that play. Pittman isn't going to throw him under the bus. Later in the game there was another 4th down, i wanna say 3 yards. KB was sending in signals, Pitt walked over and told him something then proceeded to call for the punt himself.

That call was on KB, Pitt just won't say it. And he shouldn't.

Miami did the same thing. It was like 3rd and goal (9 yards) and they called a QB run, the announcers were confused

Well, he just answered it. He thought we caught them in quarters and could catch them
Off guard
