Give us the entire SEC. Despite recent failures, OK is in a good position this year.

its hard for me to think they are better than Alabama,Ohio St,or Clemson for that matter as well.. I dont think they get by Texas this year .Something tells me Texas will be a factor this year .. could be wrong but Sark knows BAMA and the SEC so he may have an upper hand in some ways as long as he doesnt get too drunk

Seems like anytime Oklahoma gets the preseason #1 ranking, they have a disappointing season.

Oklahoma is in a really good spot this year. They came on really strong in the second half of last season. And they're rediscovering the value of defense. At a time when the big SEC programs are increasingly focused on offense.

IMO it's a matter of time before the SEC starts getting blown out by teams from other conferences the way the Big 12 teams have for the last decade. I'm not saying it'll happen this year. But if the SEC continues to sip the kool aid of just winning high scoring shoot outs, it'll happen sooner or later.

Defense is critical. I don't understand why some SEC banner carriers are following the blueprint that made the Big 12 irrelevent.

He puts LSU in the top 20 but Florida isn’t in the top 25? Lol okay.

Florida looked like crap at the end of last season. Then lost Trask and Pitts to the draft.

They might reload and be good this year, but I don't have a problem with them being unranked to start the season considering how they finished 2020 and what they lost.

Alabama's defense is going to be stacked this season. Talented, experienced, deep.

Yeah that didn't make any sense. Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, and LSU (omitting 2020) have put out respectable defenses recently. Alabama and Georgia will have elite defenses next season.

Alabama is an exception to the norm. Y'all's recruiting will keep your defense solid no matter what.

But for programs that don't/can't pull top prospects at every position from coast to coast every year, the lack of attention to defense will begin to weaken the conference top to bottom soon.

I don't really see anyone who has stopped trying to play defense. LSU was awful on defense last year, but that wasn't because of a shift to some sort of Arena Football philosophy. They just sucked.

Arkansas, Auburn, A&M, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, etc all try to play defense and recruit to defense. Florida hasn't been great at it, but they haven't given up on it. Hell, Mississippi State played great defense last year.

The Big XII teams generally didn't recruit any elite football players on defense and treated it as a "get a turnover or let them score quick" situation. Nobody in the SEC does that.

SEC only has 4 teams in the top 50 for total defense last year. That's a big change conference wide from even 5 years ago. 2015 the SEC had 5 of the top 16 defenses.
