Caught the tail end of a conversation between he & the 2 producers this afternoon & Peter Burns stuck his head in cameo. Gist of the conversation, again, only caught the end apparently, was that Finebaum was only going to be on air a few more wks & Burns would be taking over. No joking or laughing & Finebaum noted that the "P" for Paul would remain & Burns added in.He closed the comments with "I've had a good run & would not change a thing". He was definitely in a somber mood. Anything to this? He did mention ratings last mth, saying he knew what they were but was not going to comment on them. And moved on.

Sorry, dude but I heard what I heard & I have listened to Finebaum long enough to know when he's trolling...note that I mentioned I only caught the end of the conversation but he sounded serious & the throwaway line bout Burns fit the conversation too.Mea Culpa if wrong. And I am no dude.

Burns is subbing for him like he has and they were joking about Burns taking over. Not hard to see.

Interesting...... I never thought his show translated well to ESPN. It was pretty funny on the radio back in the day in Birmingham but just don’t see how that could really go over with a national audience, particularly with the SEC expanding.

Finebaum does great interviews so would be surprised if ESPN doesn’t keep in some capacity. They are probably paying him big bucks and the ratings aren’t there and ESPN is under tons of pressure to cut costs.

one word - JimfromTuscaloosa...

actually there are several callers who have caused many to stop listening... no point to his show outside of "football interest" months and then you just have to tune in for the interviews for a few minutes each hour then turn it off before Darriel or Jim or Tammy call. and poor Mille they treat her very crappy

Finebaum will retire when Saban does.
And die of heartbreak about a month later.

If he didn't die when his God spurrier went away he'll be fine without saban. I swear, He used to walk around with spurriers jiz on his chin.

As far as his show, it was much better when in Birmingham, only Bama and Auburn called. His show isn't entertaining nationally. He had some characters back then. It fed the iron bowl whether people admit it or not. The Friday before iron bowls he would have guests that were to do nothing but piss off Bama or auburn fans. By Saturday morning u wanted nothing more than beat the shite out of anything Orange and blue. Legion field would literally rock that day.

ESPN has finally discovered that small market Alabama radio does not bring national TV viewers.

I've never understood his popularity. His show sucked arse LONG before ESPN or satellite radio. He's a good interviewer and understands the politics of the SEC. Everything else about his show is terrible. The "regular" callers are moronic clowns. I'm not interested in listening to children yell at each other all day. And Finebaum is clueless about actual football. I imagine Jim Rome and Finebaum have the same stupid fans.

I think espn keeps him around as one of their go to CFB analysts. Be surprised if he worked a tv show full time.

He could move back to Birmingham but his wife gave up a very good practice to move to Charolette. So we will see.
