Better numbers against better competition.

quote:

When you hear most analysts talk about Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and the buzz surrounding his NFL draft prospects in 2021, there is no shortage of praise heaped upon him. He’s considered by a bunch of NFL-types to be the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck came out of Stanford in 2012.
And, yeah, Lawrence has the numbers and intangibles. He stands tall in the pocket, has good mobility and has been an accurate passer for the majority of his career at Clemson. But … get this — according to the folks at Pro Football Focus, they actually consider Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields as the better prospect.

quote:

Justin Fields should be ahead of Trevor Lawrence,” according to the folks at PFF.
“They both project to be better than Tua (Tagovailoa) and a little bit less than (Joe) Burrow, but of course Burrow had the senior year that none of them have had yet. So, for right now, it’s Fields then Lawrence — and then — if Tua were in next year’s draft, he’d be third.”

quote:

And there’s some truth to what the numbers say, too. Last season, Fields was invited to New York as a Heisman finalist, not Lawrence. The Ohio State quarterback threw for 3,273 yards and 41 touchdowns, completing 238 of 354 passes (67.2%), and throwing three interceptions. His QB rating for the season was 181.4.
Lawrence, on the other hand, threw for 3,665 yards and 36 touchdowns, completing 268 of 407 passes (65.8%) with eight picks. His QB rating finished at 166.7.
Now, it’s hard to compare apples to apples completely, but Fields also went against better defenses in the Big Ten and still put up slightly better numbers. Unfortunately for the OSU QB, Lawrence and his team got the last laugh in 2019, but there’s always this year (hopefully).

But then, it is PFF.

One of the biggest coaching mistakes recently.

Many Georgia fans wont admit it though.

I don’t know about that. Richt wasn’t cutting it so you have to try to improve. Biggest risk is downgrading. I would say Kirby is a slight improvement over Richt even if he may not win a championship (all shite talking aside, I actually think he’s got a pretty good shot at winning a title over the next few years, though I doubt he’ll ever be anywhere close to the Saban style dynasty Georgia fans were hoping for.)

Trevor Lawrence is inaccurate so it makes sense.

I meant Kirby sending Fields packing, not Kirby being hired.

Kirby's a good coach.

He hardly “sent Fields packing”

Fromm beat out Fields in 2018. Fields didn’t want to risk losing the starting job again, so he left.

So Kirby's decisions sent Fields packing?

Maybe, but Fromm was the better QB in 2018. That was obvious to anyone who watched Georgia that season.

Since Georgia was CFP contenders that year, we were going to put our best QB out there, regardless.

Plenty of your fans were bitching and moaning that Fields didn't get more playing time vs LSU.

Weird take if everyone considered Fromm the better quarterback.

Yeah because Fromm had the worst game of his career to that point. We should have put Fields in during that game.

But Fromm played great the rest of the year. No Georgia fans were calling for Fields to start the SEC Championship.

When they played head-to-head, who had the better quarterback rating? Who threw the most TDs, who threw the fewest ints, and who won the game? Was any of that info included in the PFF piece?

Its PFF so you have to take it with a grain of salt.

Why would that matter?

Because college football coaches should make all of their decisions based on the fans bitching.

Who said that?

I'm saying Fromm wasnt getting it done and Kirby had a good weapon on his bench and didnt use it.

What was your point in stating that "plenty of your fans were bitching and moaning that Fields didn't get more playing time vs LSU."?

Kirby wouldnt have gotten crucified for putting him out, it wasnt a "risky" move.

Fields is going to absolutely kill it this year with 3 of the top 5 receivers in the coumtry joining them along with an O-line filled with 5*

No way. This board guaranteed that Kirby was a better coach than O.
