I once wore a gamecocks baseball jersey back in the day when I was a freshman in high school at a basketball dinner at a camp and got made to stay on the bus for it being inappropriate.

For Alabama, this suggests future lines (giving 2 pts for home field) in the coming weeks of:

- Alabama (-13) @ Florida
- Georgia (-24) vs South Carolina
- Penn State (-2.5) vs Auburn
- LSU (-3.5) @ Mississippi State
- Florida (-14) vs Tennessee
- Texas A&M (-12) vs Arkansas

At least this ranking isn’t drinking the Iowa State kool aid. I need someone to explain to me how beating Northern Iowa 16-10 is worthy of 8th place in the nation.

Because people have baked into their brains that Iowa State "always" has that same close game with 1AA teams to start the season. Which is true, but those teams weren't billed at Top 10 teams.

2011 (6-7) - W 20-19 vs Northern Iowa
2013 (3-9) - L 28-20 vs Northern Iowa
2014 (2-10) - L 34-14 vs North Dakota State
2016 (3-9) - L 25-20 vs Northern Iowa
2017 (8-5) - W 42-24 vs Northern Iowa
2019 (7-6) - W 29-26 (3OT) vs Northern Iowa

I could be totally wrong, but I think Iowa might beat Iowa State pretty decently this weekend. I'm not sure Iowa State can score against Iowa.

Wasn’t that the exact line last time we lost to them?

If Vanderbilt played in Tuscaloosa this year (something they haven't done since 2011), the line would be estimated to be around..........Alabama -43

Getting beat by 3 TDs by an FCS team even in game 1 of your new head coach's tenure should get him fired. That's just disgraceful. ETSU went 3-9 in their last full FCS season too (in 2019), 4-2 this past spring in the shortened season.

Not touching Auburn or Florida ATM.

BTW, this is what I predicted for Week 1:
quote:

Georgia vs. Clemson
- UGA by a score
Alabama vs. Miami
- Alabama BIG
LSU @ UCLA
- UCLA by 4
Ole Miss vs. Louisville
- Ole Miss by 2 TDs

Based on last weekend, I would still take Alabama.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info. And yeah, from a cursory glance at those games, I think Iowa is going to lay it on Iowa State. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
