One of the cornerstones of PFF is our player participation data, which tracks every single player on every single play of the college football and NFL season.
This data gives us the unique ability to explore roster turnover for every FBS team. Of course, less roster turnover is critical to future team success. The most recent example of this is the 2019 LSU Tigers, who returned 100% of passing snaps and over 80% of pass-route and pass-blocking snaps before turning in a historically great offensive season en route to winning the National Championship.
Future PFF College content will take an in-depth look at the situations teams need to address ahead of the upcoming college football season. To kick off the offseason, though, we wanted to give a look at the percentage of snaps each FBS team is expected to return in 2020.
This data does not include transfers (ie Jamie Newman, UGA) or guys coming back from injury (ie Dylan Moses, Bama)

the hell is your average math?

I just checked a few of Auburns and they dont seem to match what PFF is saying. I used CFBstats, so not sure which is more correct

I meshed the 2 OL together as 1

Going to be a classic reload job when LSU goes 11-1 or 10-2 next season.

This is snap count, not production (yards). I don't know of anywhere public that keeps up with snap counts.

I know. Id assume that means passes attempted vs total and rushes attempted vs total, right?

I think it's the snap count of total individuals who participated in the event
Total Returning Snaps of Pass Blocking = Total Returners of the next subset / Total Pass Block Snaps of all Pass Blockers (could include OL/TE/RB/FB depending on the play) during the year
It's really not a number that is easily recreated without their snap by snap database

Impossible, I read that UF would take over the east because they return everyone that matters.

I love this stuff, I think it's one of the more underrated metrics to project future success. Wish the LSU numbers were higher but its understandable why they aren't.
Solid post.

Everybody has years like this where you lose a large chunk of your starter on both sides, so you might as well have it after possibly the greatest season in CFB history
I mean, you return more snaps than Vanderbilt..........poor, poor Vanderbilt

Just going to rub it in more with an easier to read format??! Thought we were friends SummerofGeorge... Jokes aside, this is a great metric.. Its all about developing talent. Hopefully Brennan will be ready. He will have the best WR in college football to throw to, another top 5 WR in the conference with Marshall, Stud running backs, Arik Gilbert at TE, and an Offensive line that should be good (although I am worried about depth). I am much less concerned with the defensive side of the ball and the production lost there.

LOL
Yea - it isn't totally predictive or anything, but it generally gives a good idea of who might take a while to gel or who might take a step forward (or should, if the coaching is good). Schools like Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, etc are always going to be in the bottom 1/3 or 1/2 of these lists solely because their best players leave if they are juniors or seniors, generally. Some years are just worse than others (obviously last year was a good LSU year, they capitalized, and this year is a bad one).
They're just interesting to look at - this is definitely the year for A&M to take a step. No other way around it - returning players everywhere, easier schedule, year 3 of Jimbo, senior QB, etc.

If A&M isn't undefeated heading into the last few games, I would say that would be a HUGE disappointment.
