I do find it strange that some of these college football journalists are staunchly opposed to any type of season happening. I mean it’s only the industry their livelihood is dependent upon.

Predicting a delay or cancellation =/= wishing for one. I certainly don't wish for it, but I lean more toward predictions of it not happening at the moment.

I think it's a mixture. I'm sure they skew left and that matters.
But even more than that (especially for sports), I think this us (journos) vs. them (the public) has crept in over the years to pretty much every journalistic genre, and this is a chance for them to sneer at the little people who want to "go back to work" or whatever.
For a lot of writers, I think it's the elitism that drives the boat, even when it comes to politics (they side with the left because they don't want to be seen as being one of the masses voting for Trump). I think ideology is a secondary consideration.
Which is all very hilarious considering the average CFB season ticket holder is far more successful and better educated than the average CFB writer.
