@PeteThamel

Just got a text from a Big Ten spokesman. "No vote has been held by our presidents and chancellors." Hence, the Big Ten watch continues.

This contradicts previous reports. Something fishy is going on here.

Between covid, politics, protests, and football, my brain is in information overload. Every day is like a damn box of chocolates.

Maybe they just want to let the Pac-12 to do it first. Then they can place the blame on them.

Makes you wonder if several Presidents who voted "no" got an immediate earful from a lot of big donors.. not to mention their AD's and coaches and have now had second thoughts.

They probably thought the PAC 12 would immediately follow and that by the end of the day, the entire country would have cancelled the season. When they see the SEC and ACC not caving, it probably does a lot to make them tap the breaks.

I posted this in the MSB thread.

The vote absolutely happened, they just expected the SEC to follow and expected to be roundly praised and lauded for their bravery, not the SEC holds firm and the public lash out against them.

Classic case of the B10 making the same initial mistake of Mizzou 2015s leadership. They thought their silent donors and ticket holders thought the same as the SJW keyboard warriors and leftist professors and students. The only difference is the B10 has responded in hours, ours didn’t figure it out until they were all fired and replaced with some folks that have backbones.

Sounds like they got spooked by the SEC/ACC/BIG12 not canceling

I wonder if the threat of some of their teams joking the SEC for a year had any impact. I imagine OSU, Michigan, and other big boys would have been royally pissed had Iowa and Nebraska made money while they didn’t.

Didn't realize the push back that was going to come, so they got their friends in the media to speak about how reckless this is.

Those Big 10 Presidents were about to be fired. Big 10 school towns/cities outside of Chicago depend on college football for revenues just like in the ACC and SEC outside of Atlanta and Nashville. They did a quick about face. Plus, I think Ohio State would've left the conference if there was no season.

Living in a college town, I think many campus admin are SO ISOLATED, even from the town their campus rests in that they don’t realize and or care that canceling college football will be the death nail in tons of local business.

Even football at 30% attendance is HUGE!

That boring, boring talk show host Dan Patrick reported the BIG10 voted 12-2 to cancel season.
