Jeff Drummond from Cats Illustrated shared this just a bit ago:

Stoops has indicated to the staff that he will be staying here and his full focus is on UK and getting this program ready to take the next step with a banner recruiting class.

To that end, Stoops is taking an even more active role in the recruiting process. Hitting the road harder than he has in quite some time. He appears to be all-in with UK.

A new contract could be announced as early as the end of this week.

Has he been mentioned seriously for any other jobs? I haven't been hearing it.

Non-trolling question: what job/jobs was he connected to besides UK? Seems like he's in a good spot with UK as of late.

How the hell can he not be mentioned? Look at what he's done at Kentucky. Kentucky. Freaking Kentucky.

Many major media personalities stated the interest from LSU was very serious.

So are they implying that he's been half-assing it on the recruiting trail?

Some thought Oklahoma or LSU was a possibility.

I mean going to Oklahoma would still put you in the SEC but with a higher pressure to win 10+ every year.

Smart to stay at KY

That does kind of seem to be the implication. Hadn’t ever really been discussed as any sort of issue before though. I guess now since he’s considered all in, he feels driven to max it out.

Good for Stoops and good for Kentucky! Money isn't everything and Stoops has the wisdom to know the difference between it and having a happy life.

Lulz, Drummond got it from Ryan Lemond on the basketball pregame show. Ryan is close to Devonta Key and got it from him.

No one is chasing him.

UK is getting ready to build more facilities and double the recruiting budget. He's not leaving.

Kentucky is a great gig. You can win there but you don’t have to win. You’re not dealing with the mouth breathers. Nice town. He’s got it rolling there where they’re going to bowls every year. Why leave.

Yeah - this year, he beat five SEC schools that had losing records. And Louisville. But almost not UT-Chat.

Let us be honest here for a second, OK. Who in the room does not expect Florida and LSU to bounce back with any warm body at head coach and be better than Kentucky next year ? That's two of the five wins.

Who expects Kentucky to just blow by South Carolina and Mizzou ? Because it ain't happened yet. Mostly wins, some losses, and always close games against those two. That's two more of the wins.

It's not like Kentucky has turned into some kind of powerhouse this year. They won five games. Granted - five more than when they really sucked. But they're not exactly a bunch of world beaters. And that's what Mark Stoops has built at Kentucky.

You do realize only 4 SEC teams managed to win 5 or more conference games.

Stoops would be an idiot to leave UK.

East is weak, but in the SEC. Gets Vandy, Mizzou and USC every year. 8-9 wins = "meets expectations".

Lexington is easily the nicest town in the SEC.
