Penny as Memphis coach is some dirty shite...

Penny still gets paid by Nike for their line of Penny Hardaway Nike basketball shoes which are a top 10 All-Time selling basketball shoe I think.
Memphis is a Nike school.
Penny is the Memphis AAU coach and the Memphis East HS coach.
Rumors for awhile that Penny has been telling Memphis AAU players not to play for Tubby so he can get the job.
Penny has a monopoly on Memphis area AAU players
Nike can funnel these players to Penny to the NBA to their shoes.
Larry Brown gonna be his assistant.
Dirty bitches.

It's dirty, no doubt, but in CBB, everything is dirty. And I doubt one of UM's most revered alumni had to do much to get the inside track on the job. The fact that this is all dirty is probably secondary.
Tubby is one of my favorite coaches, but even I have to admit he's fairly naive. He's an old-fashioned coach who really lacks both an understanding of and interest in high-level recruiting. He probably didn't need Penny's help screwing up that part. I hope he gets a job at a place where they'll appreciate him for what he is -- a conscientious Xs and Os coach who relies more on hands-on coaching than superior talent

He ran off the reason that half the player were there, so they left and he got zero player to replace them.

Tubby is a good X and O coach and he is good on in game adjustments.

True. I wish him all the best. He never seemed to connect with the Memphis fans. He really didn't even make an attempt to, from what I can tell.

Knowing all the UK coaches going back to Rupp. I like Tubby and Hall the best outside of basketball and thought Billy Clyde and Little Ricky were the worst.
