Greene's career progressed rapidly, from Notre Dame to Ole Miss to Buffalo, where he became AD in 2015 at age 38.

`I can't tell you how proud I was of him to receive that position. Now he's running an athletic department, he's an administrator. And I thought he was very deserving, I thought he was very qualified, and I thought he'd do a tremendous job.

"And then all of a sudden, he becomes the athletic director at Auburn University. The fact Allen Greene is now the Director of Athletics at this amazing institution just fills me with a great amount of pride.

"I'm really not surprised because he has so much talent. He has so much intelligence, he's such a people person. I just think he's destined for success. I think he's going to be one of the great administrators in college athletics."

Many of Mainieri's players made it to the big leagues. Two of his players at Air Force became generals. Greene became the youngest AD in the SEC.

Quite the step up from Jay Jacobs. Football and men's basketball have already finished top 25 under him, baseball likely will too as well as produce the #1 overall MLB draft pick. Greene immediately addressed the S&D program that JJ had neglected and made a great hire.

How does an AD that just started have anything to do with this?

A coach has high praise for a former player?

Shocking.

He didn't hire either of them.

Again. This only speaks to the quality of a baseball coach you have, who Greene did not hire..

Morale boost. Getting out of the way of the coaches and letting them do their jobs.

LSU baseball this year is in a rebuilding year. Our bullpen is trash. You saw just how good they were yesterday. It was batting practice for AU.

What'd be thread worthy would be for him to have come out and said, "I coached that dumb MFer at Notre Dame, and he couldn't tie his own shoes....Auburn's fricked now!"

Now that would've made ESPN, CNN, FOX and ALL the network news!

You know better than to post anything good about Auburn on rant. It's just going to collect downvotes from every Bama, UGA, and Arky fan on the site.

I have been impressed with what he has said. He hasn't had time to do much, but there is no doubt that he is a huge upgrade over our last AD.
