Paul Mainieri says AU AD Greene "destined for success" calls AU "amazing institution"

Greene's career progressed rapidly, from Notre Dame to Ole Miss to Buffalo, where he became AD in 2015 at age 38.

`I can't tell you how proud I was of him to receive that position. Now he's running an athletic department, he's an administrator. And I thought he was very deserving, I thought he was very qualified, and I thought he'd do a tremendous job.

"And then all of a sudden, he becomes the athletic director at Auburn University. The fact Allen Greene is now the Director of Athletics at this amazing institution just fills me with a great amount of pride.

"I'm really not surprised because he has so much talent. He has so much intelligence, he's such a people person. I just think he's destined for success. I think he's going to be one of the great administrators in college athletics."

Many of Mainieri's players made it to the big leagues. Two of his players at Air Force became generals. Greene became the youngest AD in the SEC.

Quite the step up from Jay Jacobs. Football and men's basketball have already finished top 25 under him, baseball likely will too as well as produce the #1 overall MLB draft pick. Greene immediately addressed the S&D program that JJ had neglected and made a great hire.
