Pat Surtain is playing like the best corner in the country this year. We always knew he was insanely talented but is really proving he could be a top 5-10 pick next draft. Shut down Pickens last week and has been absolutely stellar all year.
I saw ESPN had him as the projected thorpe winner and also second in the country for the Defensive player of the year award. Very excited to see him match up against Marshall at LSU in a few weeks. I think he is best in the country at CB right now. Thoughts??

Don't get pissed if I'm not that impressed.

Jaycee Horn and Derek Stingly Jr. would like to have a word...

DS was better in high school than Surtain is now

Both of our CBs are pretty good. Teams that have success against us will make our LBs cover.....and our LBs are AWFUL at that

Surtain is doing very well, but PFF has him about 13th overall by their metrics. 2nd best in the SEC at the moment in coverage, but I want to see him against a really good WR and QB at the same time before I rush to declare him best.

Stingley allowed 6 catches last game to some very average receivers and also missed some crucial tackles. Not to mention he got absolutely torched against a talented receiver last year in Devonta Smith.

Yikes. Shame Stingley has regressed so much

What about the game against Bama last year?
Stingley getting torched repeatedly.

It hard to play cornerback when you are looking at the sideline when the ball is snapped.

Surtain having a really good season on an otherwise somewhat struggling defense. PFF has him a little below last season through the first 4 games though.
Last year - 83.5
This year - 79.1
Obviously very good marks either way though.
The walk on kid at Arkansas is #1 in the SEC for CBs right now

He got beat for about 5 other catches for about 200 yards total that game. Could have been worse because Tua overthrew him one time on a comeback and Stingley fell to the ground.

He let the coaches know about it afterward too.

In 4 minutes flat this fricktard went from who to trying to pretend he's qualified to compare their h.s. careers. Never change, rantard.

Surtain has a chance to go top 5 in my opnion next draft. I believe he is that talented. The perfect build for a CB and he has speed and not afraid to tackle

Not according to PFF he isn't

Watch the tape and cut out PFF. He has been very very lockdown this year.

And was still the 4th highest rated PPF college player as a true freshman in 2019 behind only Joe Burrow, Chase Young and Penei Sewell. Go figure.
