The perception of SEC football from outside of the SEC is that Bama owns the conference, and basically LSU had to hit a home run in the Burrow transfer. If you look at LSU history over close to the last decade and a half, they could only get past Bama if Bama was banged up or some sort of low scorig 1970's sort of game.

In comes Burrow, he is a goo QB in 2018 but LSU again gets shut out by Bama.

In comes Brady and then you get last years LSU, which was essentially an anomaly.

So, now the real point of the post, what is the perception of Coach O within the SEC?
Outside of the SEC he is viewed as sort of a big dumb lumbering dummy that has no idea what is happening with his team right now, who had little to do with his team's success last season except as a motivator, and probably has no idea how last season happened for him and LSU, much like he has no idea how/why this season is happening.

Well thinking along those lines, Saban made Urban Meyer quit and Ohio St would have a lot harder time making the playoffs every season if they had a SEC schedule.

Inside the SEC we know that he is using the 2020 season - one in which nobody cares, girls are playing and there are asterisks - to get all of the issues out of the way before he and Bo Pelini wreck shite across the Southland for the next decade.

Pretty much the same. Ochizik likely not going to do great unless he gets another Burrow, Cam, etc... to carry the team. Burrow did so well he carried the LSU defense for the first 4 or 5 games. LSU gave up big yards and points early last year which a lot of people have seem to forgotten.

The surprising thing about O is that the perception last couple of years was that he was a "players coach". This much lockeroom drama and opt outs doesn't happen with a players coach. Something at right.

Shrimp Boat Ed winning a national championship is similar to the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team beating the Soviets. Calling it a miracle probably doesn't do justice to how unlikely it was to happen.

Well he did make all the right moves last year. Problem is they only lasted a year. I mean Joe Brady went from a linebackers coach to an NFL offensive coordinator in 6 years. In the middle of the year last year I believed he would be LSUs offensive coordinator for a few more years.

The perception of B1G football from outside of the B1G is that all the other schools are pussies for changing the rules to suit Ohio State's playoff chances.

An SMU fan calling LSU winning a miracle seems a little out of place...

Well without getting too upset the SEC seems to be a conference where schools pick their shots and concentrate their resources well. Bama is great at football. Kentucky is great at basketball. Arkansas used to be great in men's track. LSU used to be the gold standard of women's track.

Florida has the population to be really good at quite a few sports but most of the SEC work on their football and one or two other programs. It pays to be a specialist if you are a school in a low population state.

The perception of the Big 10, as a counterpoint, is that it is a one school conference in football. With Michigan being down Ohio State basically has to avoid stumbling against a decent team in conference play to go unbeaten.

Bama, Florida, LSU, and Auburn have all won a national title in football fairly recently. Georgia played for a natty just a few years ago. Ohio State is the only Big 10 team to win a national title recently, and while Michigan State did make the CFP it was not a particularly memorable showing by them.

So, with quite a bit of merit, the SEC is seen as a much better football conference than the Big 10.

The perception of everyone around the country is that Ohio State doesn’t play any competition and wouldn’t ever make the playoffs if they had to play in the SEC

LSU is the 2nd most accomplished football program of the last 20 years.

Thought you'd know since we beat that arse in '07.
