Colorado to the PAC 12 doomed that program
I see a similar projection for OU in the SEC
They will be fighting Texas and A&M for Texas recruits

That's already happening. The state of Texas has a few recruits to choose from. I'd love for OK to become CO, but it's doubtful.

Colorado was on a downward spiral before they got to the Pac.

Riley fricked them over about as bad as I've ever seen a coach do. At least intentionally. He had people on his staff at OU recruiting for USC on OU's dime before he took the job and then took all their players and coaches when he finally did.

I've never been a fan of OU but I still felt bad for how that snake in the grass did them.

I think they will be the next Texas A&M (minus the gay traditions of course).

Are you new to the footballs or something? This has always been the case.

OU will be fine. Texas A&M is fricked because they lose their lone selling point for recruits: being the only Texas team in the SEC.

I don't see how Oklahoma will ever be like Colorado. So, I figure you must be trolling.

They're definitely down right now but they won't be for long.

Substandard product went to a conference where CFB is dying

I see the opposite

#1 Oklahoma dominated the Southwest the way USC dominated the West Coast and Alabama dominated the South

#2 Of the 6 modern additiions to the SEC, Sooners sports profile fits the SEC sports profile better than the other 5

#3 SEC historically had roughly half the conference competing for the National Hardware. PAC is USC + floater / B1G is tOSU + .25 Michigan and .25 floater / ACC pretty much FSU and Clemson / B12 is Utx + OU.

#4 Population trends favor the South in the future where the past favored the North and the Coasts.

Yeah, they have fought Texas and aTm for those recruits for the past century.

Brilliant analysis.

What does this mean? Just that they've won the most football titles?

I would say in the SEC, you missed Arkansas

Past 100+ years
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Utx
TAMU

Past generation I would say LSU and Alabama have been there too

For all the talk of recruiting TX, Saban said a primary reason he went to LSU was the per capita folks in LA to play for LSU.

That's why a coach like Les Miles can go there and win a title. The pressure on Louisiana kids to go to LSU is immense. Maybe it's wrong to even call it "pressure," that's just how it works down there.

Texas, OU, and Texas A&M all compete for the same Texas players. Texas has tons of excellent skill position players but lacks talent in the trenches to sustain multiple programs.

OU has much greater resources of everything compared to Colorado.

No, it is a 3 hour 20 minute drive from Norman to Dallas. It is shorter to the Northern DFW metro-plex burbs. The DFW metro area has 6.5 million people and lots of High schools that have excellent HS football programs. There are enough recruits in DFW for OU to recruit at worst top 15 every year even if they supplement it with a few players from instate and other surrounding states.

And that is not counting the rest of Texas where there are other areas where OU recruits.
