Sorry if this isn't the appropriate board for this, but I thought those on tRant who have been involved with coaching, the inner workings of a program, or even those who have played sports might find this interesting.

Really a great inside look at Deion Sanders' first meeting with his support staff, where he lays out expectations — right down to the amount of available garbage cans.

Obviously a lot of work to do to win at Colorado, but for those of us who have been curious to watch this play out, I have to say that I came away impressed.

Deion Sanders sets the tone of expectation for the Colorado support staff in The Coach Prime Era

As a side note, the videos are a bit long, but if you skip around, you'll get the gist relatively quickly. I ended up watching the whole thing — he's pretty sharp, and there are some good leadership takeaways in general.

This guy may just end up being a coach in this league some day.

I bet he watched those videos himself to see what his expectations are.

And you would be wrong. I too was sleeping on Prime as a coach and leader. I’m telling you now he is going to surprise you and a lot of other people. Dude has his shite together.

I think Prime can coach but Colorado is the wrong place and this is geaded towards a massive dumpster fire.

Is there a person alive who loves to hear themselves talk more than Deion?

Several.

Skip Bayless
Stephen A. Smith
Jim Rome

Now include news pundits/commentators plus politicians.

He’s cocky and arrogant, no doubt. But the meeting was literally to meet and listen to the support staff. He was having to drag stuff out of them.

I'm one of those too, not that I think he can't do it, just that I think we don't really even know yet if he can.

Listening to this reminded me of some very successful coaches — there's just something there that's hard to quantify, but he makes you want to be better.

All coaches say similar things, of course, but this one has a pretty good buy-in vibe, at least to me.

Yeah, I foresee some of those staffers getting moved out.

Not a great time to sit there when he's literally asking you how you're important to the program.

I watched whichever one was posted on the poli board and he seemed to have his shite together. This coaching thing might actually work out for him.

ETA- it seems clear that the first person to go will be the DEI manager when he needs to free up some resources.

Really liked his common-sense response to her, and that right off the bat he didn't want to play into that narrative.

ETA: Here's that part. She said "DEI (diversity)," and he asked, "What is that?"

And he said "What's that, make black people feel good?"

he has no reservations talking about his religious beliefs, and I am glad to see that. and will be interested to see how that goes in Colorado.
