EUGENE — The marquee matchup of the first full weekend of college football in 2019 will be in prime time.

Oregon and Auburn will kick off at 4:30 p.m. PT Aug. 31 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as ABC’s Saturday Night Football broadcast.

The Ducks and Tigers are both expected to be ranked in a matchup that will feature arguably the best offensive and defensive lines in the country squaring off.

It will be the first meeting of the teams since the 2011 BCS National Championship game, which Auburn won 22-19 in Glendale, Ariz. Oregon is 5-7 all-time against SEC teams.

It’ll be the sixth time ABC’s Saturday Night Football opened the season from AT&T Stadium. One of those prior visits was when No. 3 Oregon lost to No. 4 LSU, 40-27, to open the 2011 season.

Oregon was 1-1 in games on ABC last season, losing to Stanford in overtime on Saturday Night Football and beating Washington in overtime in an afternoon game that was broadcast to part of the country via ESPN2.

Auburn is 23-33-1 all-time in games televised by ABC, including a win over Washington in last season’s Chick-fil-A Kickoff. AU is also 9-3 all-time against Pac-12 teams, including a 6-0 mark in neutral site games.

I like how the Ducks are playing under Cristobal, way more smash mouth. Herbert is a legit QB, so this should be a great game.

Will be the most difficult game to predict of Week 1.

... mainly because it all depends on which Auburn team shows up this season.

Early season ranked teams playing each other is always a bit of a crap shoot. It could be two legit teams putting on a great contest... or it could be a blow out as one team is exposed as a pretender.

I would give the edge to Auburn, but, as always, no one has any idea which Auburn team will show up this season.

I think AU wins

I figure UGA-Vandy on CBS and Bama-Duke on ABC 2:30

Particularly for this games. The Barners will do their part but Oregon probably brings less than 10,000 fans

I hope they do try to play smash mouth. Derrick Brown and company will get plenty of 3 and outs, if they do.

Brown showed out in the bowl game and AU's oline played great as well. AU is bigger/faster/stronger than the Ducks and will over power them for the W.

Yep, Imagine how awesome this game would have been @Autzen or @Jordan Hare.

Lean Oregon because of the QB match up but they really weren't that great last season. Had one or two big wins that kept 'em relevant.

I think Oregon return all 11 offensive starters.
Should be a good game.
