When we became America’s first chartered public institution in 1785 and formed our first school organized team in 1886, making it the oldest athletics program on campus.
We were also the first SEC school to win a CWS so...

I've never been much of a baseball fan, college or pro, tbh.
I lived in Knoxville the last time we went to the CWS, and even then, I didn't give a shite. In fact, I didn't even know we went until like two years later.
Would I like us to have a dominant baseball program like LSU? Sure, why not. It's kinda like having a great women's basketball program under Pat Summitt, it's
nice and it's good for the school.
But am I ever gonna emotionally invest in college baseball or women's basketball like I do football and Men's BBall? Lol, not a fricking chance.

quote:To be fair it was nowhere near the product it is now. College baseball used to be pretty low level. It still is for the vast majority of teams, but the SEC has kinda turned into the Low Low A league and better talent out of high school is choosing to go to college rather than jump straight to the minors.
