The British Expeditionary Force completed its crossing of the English Channel into France in preparation for battle with Nazi Germany. And the Texas A&M Aggies defeated mighty Santa Clara by the score of 7-3 to extend their record to 3-0 en route to an undefeated season and consensus national championship. Fun fact: it was the program’s last.

They owned LSU in the Sugar Bowl back then.

Tennessee got robbed considering the champ was decided prior to bowl games then.

Kezar Stadium is pretty awesome it's amazing the 49ers and Raiders both played there once upon a time. Kezar Pub is a badass spot to watch some NHL games too.

January 1, 1940 and their thrilling 1 point victory over Tulane in the Sugar Bowl is closer to Abraham Lincoln's House Divided speech than it is to today.

The time between this day in 1939, and Georgia’s last national championship is almost equal to the time between Georgia’s last national championship and today.

Yeah 2-0 against LSU in the Sugar Bowl and 1-0 against Bear Bryant in the Orange Bowl.

Abandoned football after the 1992 season.

Also, Tim Tebow is closer to 50 than he is to when he matriculated into Florida.

Not going to get one.

The BEF escaped Dunkirk because Von Rundstedt ordered the Wehrmacht to pause for 3 days.

Saban and Alabama won't show the same mercy.

The Brits did not go undefeated that year, for the record.

Analogy holds.

The Panzers were kicking arse and taking names. Had to stop for maintenance and rest, while keeping in mind they may get outflanked in the future if they pressed on.

Wasn't it illegal to own people back then?

The USA was in the early stages of a recovery from an economic depression unlike anyone as ever known. Except for Georgia and aTm who can relate in football NC'S.
