fricking Larry Munson.
Peace be upon him.
The only great thing about Georgia.

Munson has set the bar high for team’s broadcasting.

I was there...the place went nuts.
UGA/Clemson was one of the best rivalries of the 80's.Several close games and upsets

Looked like it wouldve been good from 65!

Oh my god, oh my god. He never said whether it was good or not. People listening on the radio must have been going crazy.

Phil Schafer (sp) was a great "translator" for Larry. Just by chance, we were listening to this on WSB and Munson never said "Good." Schafer had to inform the listeners that Butler did make the kick and Ga was ahead.

"Worse than bonkers!"
"This is ungodly."

Dooley let Butler try one from 71 yards against FSU in the Citrus Bowl at the end of the game. He was short by less than a yard. Dude had an amazing leg.

One of the best kickers of all time no doubt.

"We'll try to kick one a 100,000 miles." < EPIC

AKA "the helium ball' game.
I felt like Butler's foot stopped in my groin when he made that sucker. Then Clemson had a long return on the kick-off with a 15 yard late hit penalty to possibly make a tying FG, but the officials said the clock ran out, so game over.
That was a hell of a game, typical of Clemson-UGA in the 80's. I'm looking forward to resuming the game next year. Oh, and Munson is in a class by himself.

I did...I was driving at the time, on Bankhead Highway in Mableton, Georgia, coming home from work and listening to the game on the radio....I mowed down a entrance sign to a Wendy's! Likened to have been arrested but managed to avoid it, paid the fine and enjoyed a fine memory!

Could be argued that Munson is the reason there are so many dawg fans in the state without any direct ties to the university. They could just as easily be Tech fans but their daddy and his daddy probably had Munson on while fishing or working on a car and that shite is better for building relationships than anything I ever found....I know my entire childhood is timed around memorable moments with my father listening to Munson and doing the shite fathers do on a Saturday when they ain't inclined to attend games in person....

Missed 71 yard FG vs FSU...go to the 3.28 mark.
You can hear him grunt when he kicks it.

Did he ever finally say if the FG was good?
That's one of the classic calls in all of FB history. Lindsay Scott is second.

Munson never did. His color analyst, Phil Schaffer, eventually acknowledged that the kick was good.

I don't think he ever said Lindsay scored, either. He did say that a lot of property was gonna be destroyed that night in Jekyll Island.
