On paper, has Mike Leach had a better offense?

Big time 4* qb
A RB that led the SEC in rushing and is a threat in passing game
3 4* WR’s
An O Line that features 1 5 star and several second year starters

This could pan out to be a fun season if they get to practice together.

A complete overhaul of the scheme, calls/terminology, plays, etc and no spring practice to implement/introduce it.

No traditional summer workouts.

And, an undetermined look for what fall camp will look like.

I'd manage expectations regardless of talent level.

Supposedly the talk is that teams are going to get an extra two weeks before the traditional 4 weeks of camp. So, that will be a huge benefit to schools like this.

I think that's why he said it could be fun if they really get to practice together...

Throughout all of Leach's tenure at Washington State, he had 3 4 star WRs. He recruited a 4 star QB but never had one leading his offense.

So yeah, assuming that the players can execute (and that's a big assumption) I don't think Leach has had a better offense as a head coach on paper.

We'll never know.

On paper, he's never faced better defenses.

It’s also his toughest schedule ever. I think 6 wins is the max. If he does better give him a lifetime deal. I’m betting on 5 wins

I don't know. That TT team he had at #1 was pretty damn good.

Yeah the Leach offense is literally 7 plays and none of them are running. All linemen have to learn is pass pro. There are few reads in his offense and he generally has two checkdowns sitting 5 yards out if the QB can't hit the first or second read. It won't take but a couple weeks to get things rolling.

State has 2 auto wins:

New Mexico
Alabama A&M

State has 2 likely wins:
Arkansas
Tulane

State has 4 toss ups:
NC State
Kentucky
Missouri
Ole Miss

Guarantee losses:
Alabama
A&M
LSU
Auburn

6 wins is pushing it for State

Dude. You have a QB that doesn’t fit the Leach system and a coach that has a system that doesn’t fit in the SEC if State wins more than 6 I’d be SHOCKED

CEH was a better back than Hill.

I expect most good teams to hang 40 on States defense.

6 wins tops.

So you think he signed the 4 star that threw for 5 million yards at Stanford because he likes the way he handed the ball off? Interesting take there....
