I’m not talking overall resume, we’re all very familiar with him personally and what he’s done overall, I’m talking about the stuff you guys see watching Ole Miss baseball regularly day-to-day. The only time I really watch Ole Miss is when LSU plays you guys and in postseason games.
What are your biggest complaints about his coaching? Any specific things that his teams do or don’t do consistently?
Give me some pros and cons that come to mind regarding his coaching decisions. Y’all know him best.

Great recruiter. On the verge of being the best coach in the SEC. Possibly the nation.
Hire him now.
Hire him now.

Though he usually puts a top half of the SEC pitching staff together, I wish he had a dedicated pitching coach. And I wish he’d mix up the way he attacks hitters ahead in the count.

So you don't want to know what the rest of us think?

He stubbornly adheres to righty-lefty matchups even if the numbers don't necessarily support them. This becomes an issue for our pitchers because they clearly won't have it but Mike's gonna leave them in to face one more batter because they're a righty. The last few years, we've seen a lot of regression in the bullpen. Guys that were big time contributors the year before suddenly fall off the map or inexplicably can't get an out. I think he needs to hire a true pitching coach, which he has not had at Ole Miss.
Things I like about Mike: Recruiting is lights out. Players love to play for him. He is candid and honest in his interviews. At Ole Miss, he built the program from scratch and maintained a very high floor so the team was never bad. His worst season in conference was 13-17. This year in particular I thought he did a great job managing the team. There aren't a lot of teams who lose 2 of their top 3 players, especially of the caliber that Hoglund and Elko are, and keep on winning. Sure, Elko came back but he was either walking, hitting bombs, or striking out. He also had to DH which meant we had to play subpar players at 1B which compromised production. Elko was on his way to national player of the year IMO.
I also truly believe Ole Miss was headed to Omaha last year but COVID cut it short. That team rocked from top to bottom. If he does, this hire is much easier.

He almost always calls for a waste pitch outside on an 0-2 count. I know you can't groove one there, but you can nibble once in a while. But what do I know? Can't argue with the pitching staff's K totals.

Bottom line, I think Mike is a very good coach. Programs and fan bases grow stagnate. I think that is where we are. Both sides need a fresh start. I think he would do wonders for your program.

We’re going to replace a guy who makes terrible in-game decisions with another guy who makes terrible in game decisions

Bianco is the best coach Ole Miss has ever had. Now, I do give the Ole Miss fans hell on here trying to rustle them but Bianco is better than they think.
He is a great recruiter and organizer. The only reason he’s knocked is for only getting to Omaha just one time.
To me its just a math issue. While he’s only been once, he’s had his team close NUMEROUS times. When I say math, what I mean is - I have seen coaches close and not make it, then go 2 of next 3 years etc. I think he’s a smart coach but the victim of coaching a program that lacked deep tradition in baseball. I learned long ago that tradition mattered :SEE Bama football.

Why doesn't he? I feel like that's a no-brainer? Is he stubborn in his ways and unwilling to adapt to survive? Because that is a quality in a coach that LSU fans know all too well.

Primarily because there are only two permanent assistants and he uses his for hitting coach and a recruiting coordinator, which is imperative at Ole Miss given lack of scholarship flexibility. And he’s a really good pitching coach. It would be better if he did t have to though.

He has a great walk. You can tell a lot about a man from that.
