" Don't put your thumb in his nuts, put your facemask in his nuts"

Not gonna lie, we were taught to tackle by putting 2 screws to the nuts Meaning put the 2 screws at the top of your facemask right below the beltline. Never heard this for blocking

Seems a little low. Would think that leads to too much dropping the crown to get that low, which is dangerous for the tackler. For head-on tackling, it was always eyes to the numbers.

It was absolutely too low, and dangerous. We finally went to getting your head across the ball carrier. They don't teach that anymore. My 8th grader practices rugby tackles and keeping the head completely out of it

Gotcha. I'm 25, so I was probably a little after your time when folks started to realize how dangerous it was.

Yeah, the rugby tackling thing is the future. Of course, it REALLY relies on wrapping up and not just throwing a shoulder.

I'm 50

We had a coach in 8th grade football who wouldn't let us have too much water because we'd cramp

Yeah, I've heard horror stories from the old man. Some of that shite was insane. It was soooo off base.

Feels out of place. Seems much more like something that would take place at UGA.

That... is one way to go about things.

I do hope they are having all their players take MMA classes or this is going to lead to a lot of Ole Miss players being taken out of the stadium on stretchers.

Still, it is... different.
