Partridge is a recruiting ace and rising star in the coaching ranks and Durkin was a great DC at Michigan. Durkin was cleared by the Maryland Board of Trustees to return as their coach following the McNair tragedy but was fired due to media backlash the next day.

Still a bad look with Durkin.

But partridge is good. Alabama tried to hire him twice. Was a great high school coach in New Jersey before going to Michigan.

I’m not 100% comfortable with the optics either. Our AD talked to almost everyone who had worked with him or knew him allegedly.

Durkin is a scumbag. Finley hired as well, though A&M fans don't seem to really care too much about that

Looks like Kiffin is going full "Hugh Freeze" at Ole Miss

Outside looking it, it looks like Finley has done a good job at A&M. Beal and Wydermeyer are good tight ends.

Durkin optics are certainly iffy. Lane is taking the Saban rehabilitation approach.

I like the Patridge and Finley hires. Sounds like LK has landed 2 more solid recruiters.

Finley has done a good job at A&M. I think he's a moron to leave, but wish him the best

Durkin is a good coach, but I can't see him being able to ever recruit again. It's extremely easy to negative recruit him.

Brian Kelley overcame it. It will be a story for a year or two and then people will move on.

Was Berts DC
Been around for 20 years

Must be a slow ascent

Durkin almost killed a kid and got fired for it.

Classy staff Fat Bert Jr. is putting together down there.

Wrong coach bud. Partridge is an assistant at Michigan. You’re thinking of Charlie. Chris was back to back recruiter of the year per Scout/247 in 2016 and 2017

You were literally telling us the other day on the coaching changes board that there is no way Finley leaves.... but you a aren’t upset

Statement from AD

quote:

"We received consistently strong feedback about Coach Durkin's strong character and work ethic and his positive impact on the communities and institutions where he was previously employed," Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter said in a statement. "Once we had the chance to spend time with Coach Durkin, we were even more convinced that he is exactly the type of accomplished coach with strong football credentials who is also a proud and committed family man that will make him a great addition to our new staff."

If you need to release a statement about Durkin to make you feel better, you shouldn’t be hiring him.

They might as well bring in OJ Simpson too. Running backs coach maybe?

Pretty vanilla quote from Keith Carter but I think it better to address it and own it then just simply not doing anything. Probably doesn't matter too much as the media will no doubt shine a light on Durkin's past and hiring which is fine and what anyone can expect them to do.

Durkin was cleared of any wrongdoing by two different investigations. Picking up Durkin and Partridge are solid hires.

Yeah but I don’t know if Lane has the best reputation to be rehabbing coaches. Not calling him a cheater I’m mostly talking about his many personal indiscretions
